Default Has technology helped or hurt us ?

Serious question,
Has the internet or cell phone technology helped or hurt us ?

A few years back I hated texting people it seemed like a phucking waste of time. I found myself recently bumping people to voice mail then texting them back asking whats up ?

Today I was driving my daughter to work and I noticed she had her cell phone in her hand (new windows phone). I asked who she was texting. She said nobody just checking F.B before work. I kind of freaked out and said its a 5 minute ride to work what could you have possibly missed since we left the house (she was on her laptop before we left). She said what do you want me to do just sit here and do nothing.

Personally I think it has hurt us,

Not sure!...
It's a big time game changer though!...

I look at it as progress (at this point)!...
But it could easily spell our demise too!...

I understand progress, but has it gotten out of hand ?

I believe the information at our finger tips is something that is needed. But are we that lazy that we need to order a pizza on the internet instead of picking up a phone ?

I was just pondering that we would not have this message board without advanced technology.

We would not have daily drivers achieving 35 plus MPG without advanced technology.

We would not have cell phones without advanced technology.

We would not be living longer and healthier without advanced technology.

We would not have almost unlimited access to information without advanced technology.

I could continue with an extensive list but you see my trend.

I think the real question, the real challenge is how do we embrace these modern items to our advantage.

No question, we are living an amazing time in human history and for the most part I like the technology. However, I also find it a daily challenge to use the technology to improve myself, the way I work, being productive etc.

I'm afraid Facebook will be the real life version of Skynet from the Terminator movie.

I might add............. I do like the fact that I can start a thread here about garbage disposals and get 16 (pretty much the same) responses within an hour!...

If you mean a house phone..Haven't had one in over 10 yrs.

We tried the "order" over the phone. It was just easier to call and say "what are your specials right now". Compared to setting up another account with yet another password..

Next we will have a generation of babies with smaller stronger thumbs.....so they can text faster......lol

For real when are they going to start diagnosing people with carpal texting syndrome.

probly helped on the medical side. saved lifes and cars are safer. everything else has hurt us. no one wants to go work hard to make there money they want to punch keys. lots of jobs overseas now. anything that can be done on the internet will be gone someday. i think the people in most danger are the people in offices or who use computers.
