The SSRE 4400 is a mechanical roller camshaft for a BBC. Recommended valve lash is .026" intake, .030" exhaust at operating temperature. Lobe lift is .490" intake, .4706" exhaust, giving a gross valve lift of .833" intake, .800" exhaust, with the standard 1.7:1 ratio rocker arms. Advertised duration measured at .018" lift is 328 degrees intake, 356 degrees exhaust. Duration at .050" lobe lift is 288 degrees intake, 312 degrees exhaust. Cam timing at .050" is: intake opens 33 degrees BTDC, intake closes 75 degrees ABDC, exhaust opens 97 degrees BBDC, exhaust closes 35 degrees ATDC. Lobe separation is 116 degrees. Regards, Chase

Gross valve lift with a 1.7 rocker arm is actually .847/.811. If he has the older cam that was ground by bullet, it will have the specs you posted. If it's the new one ground by comp, then it has the lift I just said. I work in the parts dept. at shafiroff racing.Thanks- Ian

Indicated by the 13-35-04 code, it should be the really older version that was ground by Crane, with the specs I've provided. The 13 stands for BBC, 35 is the week of the year it was ground, and the 04 is 2004 (year). Regards, Chase

What is stamped on the front of the cam? If it's a Shafiroff grind, the grind number will begin with SSRE. The numbers that you've provided indicate the cam core number, and the date code only). Regards, Chase
