Default NEW 2016 Lansing Camaro

What would you like to see in the new Camaro? I'm thinking, 3200lbs, 5.3/325hp standard with a T56 and an option for a S60 rear end. All for 25K. With the diesel Cruise coming out, the corporate fuel economy deal might allow some crazy combos. I figure the LT1 should be up around 500HP by then and an option if not standard on the SS. What say you. Keep cost in mind.

Light weight with out a ton of options to keep cost down. It would not sell though, people want everything to drive and ride like a Cadillac now.

I would like to see a better looking and lighter car to start with. The rest can be done by us.

It won't have a T56 or a S60, TR6060 and IRS for sure, probably a variation on the LT1 as well. Will be built on the Alpha platform so the weight might be better. I sure as hell hope so.

Except for the 6 speed you described a 1988 Iroc Z.

5th gen is 3850, makes 400hp stock. Base 1SS is like $32K. None of what you are talking about is likely in my opinion.

I like the styling of the 5th gen, that's why I got mine.

I would imagine that by that time the base Camaro V8 will be 435-450hp DI 6.2L. I wouldn't be surprised if the transmission choice no longer affects the engines any more either.

5th gens are about the perfect street cars.

I have not had one fellow mechanic or one tuner not work on mine and not say they love it

They're heavy and overpriced, I'm a GM guy but compared to the new 5.0 the Camaro is typical GM bean counter build.

You are clueless. A loaded 5.0 is 5k more than a loaded camaro.

And still has a shitty manual Trans and no brembos on the rear.

Also still a solid axle in the car from 2005.

The 5.0 are faster and lighter for sure.

But the camaro is a more well rounded car.

Mustang has cheaper interior and the trans is made in China. 5th gens is quiet and solid, though heavy. Looks like I can get 250 lbs out of mine by doing full exhaust, a set of 18's and a light battery.

Not sure what the new Mustang will be like. Got to get the weight out of the new Camaro and make the rear indestructable. Put something strong in back like Ford did with the 8.8 in all the Mustangs. I hope the engine isn't under the dash either. Should be sweet with the new LT1. Hope they keep the retro look.

Since when did a stock 88 iroc make that much horsepower and weight that? I was thinking more around 250hp if that and 3500lbs stock. I dont mind the looks of the new camaros but i hate heavy cars thus i hate the new camaro. If i just wanted something to cruise on the street and didnt care about speed or performance i would love to have a new camaro but when i think camaro i think about performance not a cruiser

The IRS is part of what packs on the pounds. IMO, the pony car doesn't need it and most that buy it either don't want it or would never know the difference. GM, the recipe is simple for the pony car. We want it light and compact with a big engine bay and a live rear axle. That's it! It ain't complicated.
