Default Cma for a nitrous 5.3??

I'm putting together a JY 5.3 setup and was wondering what size cam to use for a 150 shot. Its going in a 2700# foxbody. Just going to use it till my 6.0l is finished. Its a carb set up with front mount distributor/powerglide. Thanks.

If you want a cheap temporary setup, the edelbrock 2116 cam is not bad at all. Made specific for carbed LS.

Are you sure that edelbrock cam will perform ok? It has such low lift compared to the more popular/common cams.

Yep, it will do fine if you are not trying to squeeze every ounce of power from it.

You won't need much of a grind. That Fox is super light. Let me know if you want something that'll work. I've done quite a few just like that.

231/238 .617"/.615" 111+3

You've got a single plane and a carb, needs a tighter LSA and ICL than most other cams would, and on top of that you're only spraying a 150 shot which does not need a dedicated nitrous grind or anything that resembles a cam that is intended for heavy nitrous use.

How much would I be able to spray before I would need a dedicated cam? What is the limit on a stock bottom end 5.3?

Until you're spraying 300 or more I don't see the need for a dedicated nitrous grind that would resemble your typical nitrous grind.

If your tune-up is spot on I don't see why you couldn't spray 250-300hp through one. I put 260rwhp worth of jet through mine very frequently with no issues so far.

You guys and this plus 3 plus 4 bullshit. How about you grind the cam straight up and degree it in to the exact numbers you want? Oh wait, probably never touched a degree wheel eh?

I'm sure they will come in here and have some bullshit excuse but the cam gurus around here probaby never even touched the insides of a ls motor. They be and experts by talking to people on the web and read about shit. Not really building anything.

We've had better results keeping the duration down and using a moderate lift. FWIW
