Default Footbrake mechanical starting line RPM control

Anyone using a mechanical RPM control for footbrake launch RPM? I'd like to see some pics of what's been fabbed up. I have seen some use a choke cable and fast idle cam but my carb doesn't have those lugs on the main body. I've though about using a throttle control like on a tow truck for when you engage the PTO.

I already ahve an 3 step and can use it at no box tracks but would like something mechanical for pure footbrake.

I use an a/c solinoid. It is adjustable, and the bracket I made is, too. I flip a toggle switch on the line, and wick the the throttle and it brings it up to around 2500, max. I'll post some pix in a day or two.

I made a bracket to mount a Q-Jet high idle soleniod on a my Holley carb. Used it for a season and it did what I wanted it to but honestly, my foot worked alot better.

ac/high idle solenoids have been used for decades though illegal in NHRA Division 1 for at least the past 15 years.

Choke cables work but the trickest manual starting line RPM controller I've seen is made by Division 1 and Maple Grove racer Dan Walleigh

http://www.facebook.com/dan.walleigh

and the Pro ET winner of the 2012 NHRA Division 1 bracket finals a few weeks ago uses this controller.

At ~$400, it's not for those looking for an inexpensive approach.

Not looking for electrical, as said I can go on the 3 step if electrical is legal.

I've heard of Dan Walleigh's unit and seen pics, nice stuff but I'd like to fab my own.
The cable activation at the carb is what I'd still have to figure out.

we did this back in the 70s but I had a button on the steering wheel(drove the other guys nuts) but it worked great

No doubt... An old '70s relic gave me the idea

dans billet piece is awesome ...
if your into making stuff gut a shifter and use a t/stop bracket or th/350 adapter ....and use a lil hiem joint cut in half to limit throttle
dans set up has a stage and leave set up and pushes open ..if your car leaves at high rpm you need this set up!... ck your div. tech and see if either method is legal ...hell i made a reverse lever in a th 400 with a man .valve and cable ....hand operated trans brake was deemed questionable but ok at some tracks

not going to post photos of dan's controller that he sells. picture a hurst quarter stick type of shifter with a cable that pushes against the throttle linkage, fully adjustable so you can set and bump your RPM up and down infinitely.
