Default Best door skin tools?

Ok, been doing a ton of door skins lately and its time for me to buy some better skin tools. I've never owned a door skin hammer so we can start there. Yes I've been doing them all this time without one, so whats a good brand? Second, with all the tools that "help make the job faster" whats the best skin tool out now that doesn't ruin a skin?

One trick that i do is grind the lip with a 50 grit disk before you hammer it over it makes it eaiser to fold over,Dont go crazy with the grinder you don't want to make the lip to thin I also use panel glue and a hard rubber block.A few guys at work have the shark air tool door skin tool it works ok but if you have a skin that has alot of contours you still have to go back and hammer it over.

I use a wet sanding block and a Mac door akin hammer it's got the rectangle head, I used to use a snap on one with the round head an always ended up hit the inside of the door cause the head was to big.

This thing is amazing. Do a few and you will have it down without the need for glaze coat or even priming. Best tool I've used yet.

Thats the one I hear a lot about too. BUT anything with air hammer and door skin in the same sentence makes me nervous lol. I hear it does work well though, but is it only good on straight edges? What about curves and body lines? I am good enough with a dolly and hammer that I do them with no filler, I just need to be faster.

I hear ya in the "air hammer and door skin" making ya nervous. haha My first one i did with it i only needed one little spot of filler and that was only my 4th door skin EVER. Super easy to use, and literally with the pneumatic skin remover and with this tool, its seriously a 5-10 minute process off and on if you have everything set up and ready to go. Then the obvious fitting of the skin on the car. Do you guys weld your skins on? or do you glue them?

Curves is amazing, and body lines sometimes only require very little finishing with the hammer/dolly.

Heres a video i ran across to show a little about it.

heres the remover.

I learned with hammer and dolly.....I've tried the air hammer tool and still preffer the old method as you have a feel for what you are doing. Always make sure your tools are clean & burr free such as dents or divets in your dolly block or hammer(s). I like to use a flat metal file on my dolly block before every doorskin job too keep imperfections off the face of the panel. An average skin job should be hanging on the car with the glue drying in about an hour, from start to finish,no filler.

I don't like the new "make your job easy" tools as I think it's money wasted. You can do that job just as fast doing it conventional and it will be nicer.......I can see it if your doing more than 5 panels a day to save your forearms but don't want to see skinning a door become a lost art.
