Default Methanol Air Fuel??????

I realize that sensor placement, header design, and sensor type have a big effect on the readings but what range should the A/F be in for mechanically injected methanol? We're seeing 11.3- 11.8 in high gear. Thanks in advance.

What wideband are you using? Do you have the option to just use lambda output?

My car runs best on the gas scale at 11.5 or so. If I try to lean it out it will slow up.

They like to be fat as hell off the line and then lean it out downtrack.

Planning on putting a mechanical high speed on mine here shortly.

Thanks for the answers. The O2 are bosch sensors and I don't believe we have a means to use lambda. We are monitoring them as part of the RPM data logger set up we installed.

I just tune in lambda. Air fuel ratio is just a multipier of Lambda. I look for .79-.82 on the lamnda scale.

11.3 = .76
11.8= .80

Are you using any sort of high speed bleed?

No hi speed bleed on it and we can't display lambda. By what you're saying though we're in the right neighborhood though????

Hum, with M5 we have been running .850 lambda and the plugs still look a little rich. I have pulled a couple of .020 shims out of the hi-speed to keep it from richening more in the upper rpm's.

Have any of you run M5 and compared the lambda readings with regular methanol?

Thanks for all the input guys. I guess I should give a little more on the system. Its a Ron's Terminator mechanical set up that we got new from James and Scott at KillerRons.com this spring. We finally have it all together and let me tell you... They shipped it with a range of main jets. We put the mid range pill in it, made some dyno pulls changing up and down and ended up right in the middle. With no other changes except a manifold to accept the nozzles we saw 100 more ft/lbs of torque and 40 more hp than the same set up on 114 octane race fuel. I'm beginning to like this alky stuff.

Ok so going over the data from some passes we made the last time out and something is funny.... In the last 1/2 second of the pass #8 EGT starts going cold. The O2 on that side doesn't seem to change though yet #8 drops off by nearly 300 degrees. Any suggestions???

I run the same Toilet Bowl and also use the RPM Data Recording System and have for several years. Randy at RPM can fix you up with the proper A/F sensors for Methanol and add the channel to your data recorder.
The proper stoic A/F ratio for methanol is 8.5 (Lean) - 4.5 (Rich) with 5.7 being perfect but each motor has it's own fuel demand curve. My sbc runs best @ around 5.1.

Give Randy a call and he can fix you up !
