Default Polished Ring and Pinion Gears

Has anyone found any power in having their Ring and Pinion Gears polished up ? There is a place by me that does it for $70 . I have an 8.8 in a Mustang....275 car, just looking for some more efficiency.
Thanks !

i know the prostock guys and nascar guys do it it probably wont be worth any et but it may make them last longer with the reduced friction

Yea, I was just wondering if it REALLY did anything. On a High HP car it might not be noticeable, but on a n/a car like factory stock...it might ???

Just fill the diff case with WD40 instead of gear oil.

we used the micro blue process on our bearings in circle track racing. they would spin alot better, the car rolled alot easier, and that was with near 4.75" of rear stagger.

Fill your rearend up with Royal Purple gear oil.. With their "Synerlic" technology, I have seen this stuff polish galled up bearings back to a mirror smooth finish.. Yep, I actually saw it done..

Read about Synerlic here..

Call G-force tansmissions, they do alot of Nascar and Prostock gear sets. When I talked to Leonard Long the owner he told me that when the gears are polished and broke in on the diff dyno they were seeing good gains but i believe breaking in on the dyno was a big help also.

We just had our r&p polished and the berrings coated. Have not had it out yet, but befor, it took both hands and a lot of effort to turn the axel to turn the pinion. Now can turn easy with one hand. Using Redline light weight gear lube.

The WD-40 was a joke....the joke being that my car sits more than it moves. I run the Redline Shockproof oil. I just didnt know if anyone did any "true" back to back testing.

Jeff...Williams gears are polished and I have Red Line Shock Proof (red) in his. This is the same gear oil that we found has given us good longevity in Kurgans car. We will see how it works next Wed !

Just get the black shit off. You can do it with a glass bead machine.

The black shit is only on there to keep it from rusting. When it comes off it is like sand.

I I bought the used nascar gears below from http://www.roushyatesparts.com/Used-...ears-s/640.htm.

Paid $150 bucks for them, There looks to virtually no wear to them. They have been lighten and had all the latest tricks done to them. Figure for 150 bucks I will give them a try. They usually have a varety of stuff so you need to check back regularly.
