Got this from a traveling NHRA racer on another site, good info when shopping for race car/trailer insurance...

"They all look good till you have a problem, then you will be told
it's in the FINE print ... Ask alot of questions, like is it covered in a Hotel parking lot ? Are you covered in your drive way ... Are
you covered at the track in the pits? Are you covered in staging ?
Are covered in the track parking lot ? ARE you covered if someone else is driving ... Are you covered if you hit someone in the Pits .... Most of the answers are NO !!! Get everything in writing don't trust any of them ... I paid for the insurance for all most 10 years and never used it, three years ago, I back into some one in the pits and thought I was covered as I was told before ... Going down the track is the only place you aren't covered with this insurance, well when I needed it , it wasn't there ... I was told they had change the coverage to when you start the car at the track you aren't covered ... Needless to say I drop the insurance guy after ten years, Never made a claim .... He kept telling me I was covered on everything, at home, on the way to the track and at the track, in the Pits ... Don't trust them get it in writing and hold them to it I did learn a Big lesson get it in writing!"

Who? here's few..

I use Lutz and honestly it was money well spent! I purchased the policy 1 day before my crash and was paid out in 2 weeks for repairs. Don't get me wrong, it's not a Blank check to repair your car... There is a fair amount of work you must do to justify and prove your claim but in my case Bill walked me through every step of the way. Bottom line, will you come out of pocket to repair your car after deductible? Most likely but compared to money you would have spent without the insurace? I am a customer for as long as I am racing after this experience!

Good Luck

Tom

So I seeing two types of Insurance here,

1. Everything accept going down the track

2. Only going down the track

Is that correct?

Bills insurance covers anywhere including on the track. The car in the other lane is covered up to 50K as well but i don't know how that works. I have bills insurance gave a down payment and get a bill every month.

I use Dick Ferguson at Hartland Insurance Group. Great to work with. He was recommended to me by Mel Eaves (also great guy) because he couldn't insure the car the way I store it. Hartland also does on track insurance very reasonably.

Our insurance will cover you anywhere at anytime. Anyone can sell you insurance but it's when you have a claim that seperates the companies / agents, look at the insurance companies backing these other companies and see if they're on a approved status with your state. I know for a fact there are some that's not on a state approved lists which if you have a problem with the company the state department of insurance WILL NOT step in and resolve your issue.

I race with people I insure so I have to make sure I'm selling them good coverage that pays out when needed, not waiting 3 to 6 months for a check to arrive.
