Default C-clip eliminators for an 8.8" out of an Explorer?

Who makes them? Every set I've seen so far says not compatible with truck brakes.

Not sure if they can be used with the truck brakes, are they disc or drum?

They can be made to work with SN95 Mustang disc brakes though.

Drum brakes....and I stand corrected. It's a Ranger rear end. 28 spline axles.

Also, if worse comes to worse, can the housing ends be cut off and replaced with a Mustang style end?

If you are going to cut the hosing ends off then just go with the large 9" ends, Then you can choose any brake setup you want and you won't be fooling with c-clip eliminators.

My question is would it be just as cheap to buy a damn 9" housing and do that instead? If I'm going to have to cut off housing ends, change brakes, etc....hell I already have a 3rd member for a 9" anyway.

i'm using an 8.8, drum brake, from a ranger. cut the housing ends off and welded torino ends on and added bolt on mounting plate for retention and press on bearing. 47" flange to flange and axles equal length. worked well. all stuff, including axles from moser..........PS

What did you have to do to the backing plate for the drum brakes to make them work?

i believe the ranger is still mustang sized ends. dont hold me to this, but the 8.8 in the explorer and f150 had much bigger bearings. what year ranger rear are you using?

was going to 11" drums and had everything from f150. was an easy mod and it seems to work well. less weight than 9" and it would be overkill for my app at 2100 lbs.......PS

both the mustang and ranger use the same 7.5 and 8.8 rears resp. , the 8.8's retain the same 9" shoe size the same national 8660s seal and 5707 bearing, as well as the ability to use the ranger axles in the stang housing. so personally i would not see why the axle end would be sized diff. however im not lookn at it. i would imagine a set of mustang elims and 9" mustang drum backing plates would go right together on that rear.
