Default Will this work- Intake system

Finally making progress on my car, just wanted YB's opinion as I ran into a little hiccup.
The car is a 1994 impala ss, 383 LT1. Going carb'd and distributor, but not sure on the intake. Car will see a 200 shot, but this is the picture of the intake. It fits under the stock hood, but the insulation under the hood does make contact. If I have to I will buy a cowl hood, however I'd rather spend that $500 elsewhere on the car

You could do better with a drop base for the air cleaner.

I did this same thing in 2003 on a afr 210 headed 383ci LT1 in my former drag car - a '93 Formula. I picked up a bunch of ET switching over to a victor and an 850cfm dp from a ported LT4 intake and green top (48# ?) injectors. I epoxied the center manifold holes on the Victor and redrilled them for the Vortec style bolt placement. Capped off the water outlet and dizzy. I ran LS1 style coils with a conversion kit and capped the timing cover for the missing Opti.

Good luck.
