Try it this way.
Couple years ago EMC required hydraulic lifters.
I always run an FE - sorry but that's the way it is
Runs were to 6500 RPM, meaning the DTS needs to sweep past 6700 to get clean data.
I crushed some short travel ones with a 235/610 spring package. Finished eight with zero issues in a bazillion pulls.
Next year we were allowed to run solid rollers.
I stuck some solids on THE EXACT SAME CAM.
Pretty minor changes otherwise - and started testing.
Made almost the EXACT SAME POWER all the way through the curve.

Epilogue....
After that I swapped to EFI with a big ol' throttle body and gained power, added the rules mandated 3" Flowmasters and killed power, went to the contest and spat the mufflers off left and right looking really stupid and blowing a really good opportunity with what should have been a competitive entry...@#$%^&*&^%$#!!!

I enjoy the kind words...but not really true.

I am just a "nuts & bolts" guy, an old Detroit street racer that kinda lost his way. ANYBODY can do what I do.

I simply find guys that are smarter or more talented than I am and listen to them - then do what they tell me to do. Most folks won't listen and even fewer will act on what they're told.

My only real talent - if I have one - lies in tenacity. I will try to install and remove more pieces on a combination that I am trying to optimize than most folks would consider rational. I won't beat you, I'll just wear you out
