Default 2005 F250 6.0 Value

2005, F250, 2 wheel drive, Super Cab, short bed with 80,000 miles. None smoker, all service done by Ford dealership. Truck is loaded, (does not have leather seats) new tires and is like brand new inside and out.

Nothing has ever been done as far as upgrades to the 6.0.

Truck belongs to my Dad so I know it's been well taken care of.

I tried and tried and tried tried and tried and tried to talk him out of buying a Ford, but he had to have one. lol

What is a true resale price? Dealership would only give him low wholesale for a trade so I told him I'd give him the same.

I'm thinking about buying it and reselling it.

Thanks

Might be possible if you have the right buyer but $10,000 - $12,000 would be more realistic. What's the dealer offering?

I picked up very a similar truck about 2 years ago except it had a lot more mileage and is an F350 and I paid $11,000 for mine. All I've done to it since then was replace 2 injectors, had the windshield replaced and changed the back side of the FICM to fix a hard start when cold issue. Engine work done be me and parts at dealer cost so it's not expensive repairs.

A little over $10,000.
I thought $14,000 was high side and I'd have to hold it for a little while (which is not a problem) to find the right buyer.
I don't want to buy it and be stuck with it for a few months and trying to sell it for $11,000. I'll still have some cost in it like insurance, tag fee, title fee, etc.

General rule of thumb we tell customers

Take book value of truck say $15,000 then look to see if it has had injectors or head studs installed.
If it has book value is what the truck is worth
If not take at least $2000 off book value for headgasket / stud job that will occur later on.
Injectors in a 6.0 on the average will make it between 100,000-150,000 before needing to be replaced so Injector job can be close to $3,000 and make your own judgement call on that.

keep in mind this is clean straight etc

I don't know what the big deal is with needing head studs. My engine has over 230,000 km and never had studs or head gaskets done. Still bone stock and never been chipped. I've repaired the FICM and replaced a couple of injectors with stiction issues. I also did a couple of updates that IHC has done to the engines that Ford didn't do recalls for.

I've worked on IHC trucks with the VT365 and over 400,000 kms and have never found a head gasket leak.

I'd be careful unless you want the truck for yourself if it doesn't sell. The 6.0 Fords are hard to move unless the price is really good. Be prepared for people to get scared off when you tell them it's never had the injectors or head gaskets/studs done yet. Same w/ LB7 Duramax trucks...I know, I just sold mine and took a beating on it just to get rid of it.
