The 386 castings are the small intake port version, the 454427 castings are the one's that we used in P/S. The exhaust ports are the same in both heads, the smaller heads are the same externaly as the 427's so the could be used with extra porting (more $$) are you looking for 4.840 or 4.900 bore center? The Brodix "Big Duke" casting is a copy of the Pontiac so you might want to check those out and I could possibly find you an actual set that we ran when I was working at the Rod Shop, they would be ported to that era's configuration and would be 4.840 b.c.

You always have to mess with stand heights to get the geometry correct due to different valve-pushrod lengths ect. Remember, in racing there's no such thing as a bolt on part.

Like I said, both heads are the same except for the intake port size, one is a #454386 and the other is a #454427. The first versions were 18 degree and were changed to 15 degree in about 1994. I know this only because I designed the head in 1985 while I was at The Rod Shop.

i have the 386,s that the casting epd uses , because there is less welding to fill everything up , to change the head to make it better.
