I just used a new razor for each time I cut a new hole.

I marked the hole with a yellow or white piece of chaulk the kids had lying around.

Then I cut a line towards the edge of the carpet, slid the carpet around the bar and just worked my way around it with the blade.

If you need me to try and explain it better, let me know.

I couldn't find the correct wording, but it's pretty easy, just take you time and use sharp blades.

You can use a carpet tape to hold down the pieces of carpet that you cut, to slide the bar through or if it's at the edge by the door, you can use the door sill plates to hold them down.

id tell you, but you will probably cut yourself. buy a real deal carpet knife and SQUARE corner blades. treat it right, its not a standard razor knife. it will cut you to the bone and you wont know it. use a new blade for each cut. makes them real clean. one tip is to spray some spray paint on the floor of the car in the color of your carpet. black carpet, spray some flat black on the floorpan. carpet miscut just a tad you cant see it.
