Default Old School Chicago Street Racing Stories (Doty, North Side, RT30, Schaumburg etc) )

Let's hear about your old stories. There used to be a ton of scenes around Chicago like Doty, the North side (Clybourn, Elston, Lincoln Village, Peterson, E River), Amphitheater, Schaumburg, Airport Road, Diehl, RT30, Orland Park, 75th & Lemont, Addison/Harlem...

I remember when I first moved to the North side in the early 90's folks were afraid of Stretch's green early 70's Nova and some guy with an early 90's C4 that was a teal color. I remember meeting these 5-6 Indian guys that all drove Grand Nationals.

I had a '68 Chevelle SS, white with black rocker panels. Was jacked up in back to fit some 15x10 American Racing wheels I got at Skips swap meet. Later I had a '70 Chevelle SS, red with red rally rims.

Either we raced or fought! Haha.

I do remember the GN guys coming up to 75th, Smoked'em bad, they were not happy with me!

At that time, I had a 355ci SBO with iron -5 heads on hidden NOS system.
26x8" slicks with hubcaps all round, bench seat, colum shift, total grama car.
LOL went high 13's on HP and 12.0s on a small hit in late 80's.

That was fast back then, really.

Ridgeland and Sauk Trail way south Chicago. Had a 70 Chevelle 454 4 speed got beat from a gutted 64/65 Chevelle with small block. Changed coil as it would sputter at high RPM and changed tires. Came back out and got my revenge. Then frame broke where ladder bar was mounted. Cop wouldnt let me leave until car was safe. Used a shoe string to hold bar off of ground and he let me go. Also ran a 400 SBC in a third gen camaro that was a stick shift and I just barely out ran him. He swore I had nitrous as he used his to keep up. I didnt and he wasnt suppose to spray. Honest.

I remember Iroc Andy's blue ASSC Vette, I'm talking about a teal green owned by a Mediterranean looking guy on the North side. Did Andy ever drive Jerry's 3rd gen TA on the street?

Big Drag still out there doing it?
