I know of one (NEOPM) that put out a survey asking for racers input on many aspects of the series and took it to heart in making decisions on how to make the sport more competitive, safe, cost effective, etc...

After running the NEOPM series for 3 years I learned allot about what works and what doesn’t work and fought for the racers to make it fair for all.

With so many smaller Pro Mod series and events popping up everywhere due to the economy and need to race closer to home, focus should be standardization of rules for legal and outlaw racing. Some teams have large budgets, and some small budgets, and rules that allow all teams to be competitive and racing that is cost effective is what will keep the Pro Mods alive well into the future.

Good luck and long live Pro Mods.
Vic I will say of all the places I have raced NEOPM was the only one that asked the racers their opinion on things. We'll be back for sure.

Great concept: An "organized advocacy group" to help a group of individuals form a common voice.

Guess the concept is a good thing when it fits your agenda...

.

There is a huge difference between a union that black mails & forces their agenda on society,
and an association that can gather information & opinions, and speak with one voice!!
I would not call what the PRO group does as being a union organization??
It is just a way for communications with a large number of members about the subject matter at hand.

I must admit it will be tough to get enough teams to come together to make a difference. I thank Seattle Mike, Bill and all others who have come aboard. Hopefully by this time next year we will have something put together.

Greg we would love to have you join and the proposed association would be all the better with yet another racer coming aboard. Our stated goals are construction, not destruction.

just like you Dave its a conflict of interest for me..
Im a pro union guy in certain situations.. google me.. lol..
I think in this world you need both sides in just about any situation, it makes balance.
but in this situation i have to lean to the racing promoters .

BUT

i can chose to race just about anywhere or not.
cause guess what???
I decide.. I dont need a group.

I DO think you can have a opinion.
Get on these boards and voice your opinion. Im pretty sure its getting read by the powers above.
promoters still have to make the final decision. they are not irrational. yet at the end of the day the promoters need to make a dollar. not pay to keep the business running.
the promoters need to protect their business and avoid lawsuits.
the promoter has to appease insurance to be protected..
the promoter has to bring fans.
the promoter has to get sponsors.
the promoter needs to tickle the racers fancy.
familiar pattern dave?
I really dont think the racers need a union or a ''group'' or ''association'' to let it be known what they think good, bad, or otherwise. and i can damn sure tell you these people don't need a picket or idea's or ''agenda's'' shoved down their throat's..
Dave you wouldn't have wanted any of these headaches when you were trying deal with major issue with the shake down and trying to fix the issues you had.

In the end Dave take it this for what its worth. today i dont believe the main association/promoter talked about lately needs any grief. They are doing the best they can with the cards dealt.. Imho they have taken a 52 card pick up and are building a pretty stout house of cards.. problem is all we see right now is the foundation and the ruff in. wait until its finished before you decide it needs a remodel..

I also would guess if you have only raced with a promoter once or never your opinion is taken pretty lightly. listened to but taken lightly.
so like pops use to say ''don't wear out your welcome''..
pops also said ''dont let the door hit you in the ass''..
I think promoters can 86 people too..

Well, considering the fact that Bubba Was the Tech man for them, yea they might listen.

I know this thread has been quiet...working on a few idea's and hope to have some info soon. Again, something like this will not come together in a week or a month...the goal would be to have something in place by end of year. Hoping during the course of a race season we can get guys to come aboard. There is SO much we can learn from each other thus cutting costs & save precious time !

Something has to be done about the costs when you have teams spending 2 grand a weekend just on blower belts it time to put the crack pipe down and re think the whole deal.I know You can't put the tooth paste back into the tube, but where does it end??
