Default Whipple announces new 10.5 liter screw blower

Saw it on their Facebook page. 10.5 liter displacement (PSI C rotor is around 7.2 liter), 2000-8000hp and up to 80psi of boost. I wonder how it compares weight-wise to the C rotor? Obviously you won't see any in NHRA Pro Mod but maybe in ADRL or other Outlaw style Pro Mod stuff?

I know the old whipple was pretty badass, but it was 100lbs heavier than a C.. I could be wrong on the weight diff. but i do know that it was quite a bit heavier.

That's good news. Anybody that has to recert a PSI would probably take 100lb hit to avoid the BS. Somebody else has to get in the screw blower game. Now that NHRA has spec turbos those guys will get to feel some of the pain of a mfg monopoly.

I'm curious if Whipple got the weight a little more in line with the C rotor. I'd imagine that would be tough though with a blower that much bigger than the C. Either way, it should be a monster at 80psi capable.

Whipple said it was 30 LBS lighter than their old one. Not sure how much the old one weighed though.

30lbs lighter is definitely a step in the right direction. I'm not exactly sure what the older A980 and R980 blowers weighed either, but I do know it was enough for most guys to run use the smaller but lighter PSI blowers.

SSI is trying for approval from NHRA to get in the screw blower game . NHRA was supposed to look at the drawings at the IMIS show but never made it to their booth to check them out for some reason . I know the drawings are complete and the program is being written to machine it , it's on NHRA now .

DMPE has been at that stage for a couple years. They won't evaluate the design. They want to see a complete blower in front of them...If they don't approve it the mfg. gets to eat all the cost.

typical NHRA BS.

Yep, that's what they told me too at the IMIS show in Indy.

I am not really sure it is a good time to come out with another screw blower the way the TAD and AFC's are dropping out of racing if that was the targeted crowd . The ADRL has to turn a profit now that KH is not footing the bill so I consider them a little shakey as to their future also .

I sure hope so. Whipple has been out of the big, outlaw style blower game for some time now. It will be great to see PSI have some competition.
