Default Bracket racing ?

When i eventually get the mustang back running, I will be running in the foot brake class. Is it possible to be competive anymore with a stick shift? I know the stick will be a lot more fun but I want to give myself a chance to win also.

not very, there's good reason why the lanes at every track all across the country are full of cars with 2 speed and 3 speed "automatic" transmissions on Summit ET Series points days.

hell its hard enough to win with a automatic. at my track you better be .02x on the tree and run dead on to go rounds. i had a .007 light the other day and lost. dude had .005 went dead on with a 2. if i went dead with a zero i still wouldnt have won. thats footbrake. no transbrake no box class.

Yup its possible, and it makes the win that much sweeter when you beat em with a stick!!! Where are you located? there are several all stick groups out there, prostick, umtr, gearjammers, etc.

Im in south carolina, their are a couple of stick cars around here in the bracket series but like others have said its hard to win. It will be a footbrake only car for awhile.

Unless it's a clutchless stick then no. Stick a glide or a 3 speed in it and go kick ass.

if you want a chance at winning rounds and races "bracket racing" against other bracket cars 99.9% of who are running a glide, either put an automatic in your car or get another car to bracket race.

A group of us started bracket racing 2 years ago all driving sticks. All but one has since converted to auto...I went with a glide myself and would never run another trans.

Like what was said, it's hard enough competing with an auto.

If you stick to local stuff, and get your stuff together for say 1/2 season, sit back and look at what you've done. Decide then. It is tough. Dont even think it's not. If your a stick guy, then look at a clutchless setup. Any 2 or 3 day stuff, you'll be adjusting clutch, at the end of your day, for the next. Buy extra's !
IT is a lot more fun and a damn sight more challenging, if you're up to a challenge, that is !!

I race in Classic gear jammers it's a great class. We had 39 cars at our last event and race all over the Carolinas. You should check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=2cxSB296gvw

It's damn hard to win anyway, go have fun. Don't worry about the 25 guys following you around as you head for the lanes.......

LOL You V-8 guys are spoiled. I know several VW guys that kick ass on a regular basis in either bracket or index racing and they all run sticks (because an auto VW is a Pain In The ASS to build)

I tried the stick shift car in brackets...and just couldn't get the job done. At first I was full of pride "doing it the hard way" but....I got tired of losing....

Put a kick ass C4 in my car and never looked back....the car will repeat like clock work, now it just needs the driver to do the same.
Last "street eliminator" I ran in the car went 11.555, 11.556, 11.556...last pass I was red, so it certainly wasn't the car's fault.

At the YB nats I ran the 11.50 index. Went 11.51 in round one, and 11.504 in round 2....I was red there too...(I see a trend forming with me and that red light..)
