Bob Kamp again at Muncie. Bob bought this car brand new, drove it home and made it a track only car. He saved all the original parts, when he was done with it he put it back staock and doubled his money on the car.

This is a great picture, look at all the people just hanging out.

I wish I was around to experience those days. Much more creativity back then, instead of endless fox body Mustangs.

This blower comes with a story. It belongs to Mac Mccord. I think it was Bunkerhill drag strip. They had a return road about 25 feet from the track, no fence just grass separating them. Back when safety was not a huge issue, just not a well thought out plan. Upon warming up the altered in the pits it was back firing and popping from the blower. My dad said, I would not run it, Mac said, we came here to race I am running it. He does his burnout, backs up, stages.

The chase truck is lined up right next to mac on the return road. In the back of this pick up truck are 5 children, myself, brother, sister, Macs 2 sons, all ranging in ages 5 to 10 years old. Light changes, he cracks the throttle and BOOM, The blower flew what seemed like a mile into the air, probably really 25-40 feet. I almost could have caught it as it landed right next to the truck. It was really quiet, all the adults were like, SILENT WOW , all us kids were cheering and laughing, not even considering what would have happened if it had landed in the back of the truck. I guess thats where all these mandated safety rules come from, our parents mistakes.

In 1973 my dad was burnt up in an oil fire in this Flying Dutchman car.

He sat out saying he was done racing. A couple years later he built this alky funny car as a class project at an automotive technical college he was teaching at.

Below me stealing the fire suit and sneaking my me time with the car, I did that a lot.

Bob Kamps daughter on the fender. Sherry Kamp later ran a IHRA mountain motor pro stock baretta for her dad.
