I never check the pressure in the tires.

But my wife does.

10 or 15 times while we are in the lanes.

Jesus spoke to God while on the crucifix. He said "forgive them, for they know not what they do"

X2

Like to see him jump in a 8 second car without proper tire pressure.

In FL a tire can go up .1 of a pound in minute

Might surprise you how many racers came to their own conclusion and use the same idea.

Week ago Sun went 9.697, 9.697 and 9.698 out of the trailer, DA stayed the same on all the passes. Changed after that but regardless.
Rolled the car out of the trailer, set the PSI right away at 7.0 psi, came back from the first pass, 7.75 PSI (was cold in the morning), never looked at them again that day.
Runner-up in a 50 Car S/P field.

But to each his own, you gotta be comfortable going to the line.

The car never 60' & it was moving all over going down the track , he said ....I asked did you check your tire pressure...he said yes ...I asked what was it ....well I checked them at home last night they where 10psi....I was like WTF dude!! Unfreaking real

If you are not a serious racer, then tire pressure does not matter. To me it matters a lot.

I wonder if he checks things like valve cover nuts, float bowl nuts, lug nuts, possible oil or trans fluid leaks, overflow bottle and the like between rounds. He probably thinks such things are unnecessary, anal rententive, or worse yet, a waste of time. I will say this, if he doesn't, I damn sure don't want to be in the lane next to him.

.

The guy is NOT a complete idiot, I've seen his posts on other forums also.
He's just a slow guy that doesn't understand how the little things really do make a bigger difference then people realize.
At least I hope so, he didn't seem stupid, and I've never had an issue with his opinions/posts before this.
Unlike others on this site that will never admit they don't know everything. (I only know 1/2 of everything!!)

You have a right to your opinion..... 9.60s is pretty good.

Do what you want

I think you will understand if I don't try it with my 4.0s 1/8th and 6.30s 1/4 car.

suppose its one of those cold days at the end of the season and you're sitting in the staging lanes long enough that you're tire pressure drops below what you feel comfortable with, so you send the old lady to get the air tank and bump those cold tires back up. then you do a good long burnout because the tracks cold, and viola.... you're going down the track with way more(relatively speaking) psi than you think. it spins and its the tracks fault....i'm just suggesting that its tire pressure after the burnout ,when you launch, that really matters, not what it is in the lanes with one hot and one cold. not saying that someone should run up to the car and check pressure after the burnout, which I don't think is legal anyway. maybe I'm just overthinking it, hell, I don't know.
