Default Opinions on HTP Invertig 221

Does anyone have one and like it? Other units in that price range? ($2500.00)
I would like to get a TIG within the next few months. I like the size of the HTP plus it can do stick welding as well.
Thanks,
dan

I have the 130 HF/DC inverter model from Jeff and it's an awesome machine. I want to get the 201, but it's gonna have to wait for a bit. Cool thing about Jeff is he'll do a no interest layaway if you need too. The plan is basically for 9 months, but as long as you're making regular monthly payments they'll work with you until it's paid for. Great products and service. I also have their Mig200, have had it for 10 years, and you can't pry it away from my hands. Can't go wrong with their stuff.

My understanding is the 221 replaces the 201. They are 200 amp machines and can do 1/4" material which is all I would ever need.

I just checked, and it is new. Jeff must have just came out with it. Says it produces 220 amps of welding power. If it was my money, I'd get it. Like I said, I love the stuff I already have and Jeff is really good to work with. Called me on a Sunday afternoon to help me out before.

I am starting to learn on my lincoln tig 185 machine. So far seems very nice! Might be a little on the light side but should work good for most of my stuff.

You can get a nice Miller or Lincoln for that kind of cash AND most local parts stores will carry consumables and spare parts

HTP welders including their tig welders use common torch parts and consumables. I get my stuff at a welding supply store just down the road from my work. Jeff does sell replacement parts but 99% of what you'd normally use you can purchase at your local welding supply store.

and most of the miller/lincoln machines in that price range are transformer machines not inverter machines and also don't include NEAR as many features as the HTP machine. i'm not bashing either miller or lincoln (all i have is miller) but with those 2 you can expect to pay a little extra for the name. for a miller machine with the same features as the HTP you will pay close to $4000 bythe time you buy a torch, foot pedal and whatnot. they all use common type consumables so getting torch parts and whatnot is not an issue at all

I've used the HTP Invertig 201 when I was at Kurgan's and it's not a bad machine at all. I was quite impressed.

Invertig 221 is on "Pre-Black Friday" sale for $2195 for the air cooled version. Water cooled is $2695. Do you really need water cooling for non-production type work?

The water cooler is not a must have. I Weld all day at 150 to 225 amps with air cooled rigs.
