i am wanting to mount my coil and box in the glove box. i hate the way the firewall looks with things on it. Trying to keep it clean looking.

Now what wires should never be ran near each other?

The box is a new style MSD 6A Digital and a blaster SS coil.

Here is a pic of where the setup is gonna be.

got rid of the the stage 3 retard box all together! I have a new ignition box all together now! the old box worked fine without the retard on it.

The way I understand it, the MSD wire (orange & black 2-wire harness that actually goes from box to dizzy) should not be close to the coil wire or any 12v power wire.

OK thanks. -----------Yeah I did away with my 3-stage retard also. There was no doubt in my mind something was wrong with that box.
My only issue now is it retards about 5* when reving. If I add the extra 5* to the timing, its fine.

thats strange that MSD puts the 12V power wire and Pos and Neg wires right next to that Black/orange and black/purple harness.

Yeah, Im sure the coil wire affects it more than a 12v power wire.
Doesnt hurt to be on the safe side though.

if switching the wires(pick up) made it not start at all that may be a indication of a problem-bc base timing shouldnt change when reversednly when rpms increase.at least thats the way mine worked when it was wired wrong. hopefully your new dist will cure it g.l.

At the distributor connector, purple does not go to purple in the extension to the box. Distributor wires are purple and orange. MSD wire harness is purple and green. Distributor purple goes to green and distributor orange goes to purple in the MSD harness. Purple does not go to purple.

on a blaster ss coil. Is it possible for the (+ -) studs with wires from the msd box;

Is it possible form the to arc if they are to close to something metal?

What distance should it be away from anything?

I was working at a engine shop a few years ago. We did a hooters pro cup engine and it came back with burnt pistons. We put a couple pistons in it , dynoed it and it came back again with burnt pistons. We found out they had been through a couple other engine builders before us with the same problem. We told them to put the engine in the car and bring it to the shop before firing it. (after more pistons and dynoing). They brought the car up and it kicked back when trying to fire it. We checked and the wires on the MSD dist were backwards. We switched them and it fired up fine. Hard to believe a hooters pro cup team didnt have anyone on the crew that could check timing isnt it?

this is the one i use with my sbc turbo motor and its a flawless match to a digital box.
i dont think the oil filled round coils can keep up with a digital box. check the specs for yours against this one.
