Default BBC 427 combos..

back in the day( the early/late 80s depending on your neck of the woods) the 427 was a popular combo...

Not Mine, but back in the late '80s early '90s buddy of mine had a '68 Camaro with a L88 headed 427 with a 4 speed and a Dana. Simple ladder bars, and a cage; would go 10.20s when the trans would stay together. The sound of that engine at 8500rpms would make you almost cry. God that car was cool!!!

Had a .060 over 427 in my Vega a few years ago. 1050 Dominator, Edelbrock 454R manifold, 990s, Lunati solid roller (was an alky cam that was a bit too big for the engine on gas), 13:1 pistons, 8" converter, glide, 4.88s on 14x32s at 3100lbs. Went 9.80s spinning it to 8200. Probably would have picked up a tenth or two with the right cam and a good set of oval ports.

still have the 427 from mine pretty nice old setup In a 69 Chevelle it went 10.0s, would leave and carry the front tires up and out past the 60' unless you really leaned on it then the rear bumber was the limit, then the oil pan and headers. Ran it with a tunnel ram and 2 750s and then a good 1050 dominator. Need to freshin it up take a little compression out, and throw a fogger on it and run it on the street.

My 427 should be together in 2 months. '445' block going .030, brand new GM nitrided crank, Compstar rods, SRP 30cc domes, 049 ovals, 2.19-1.88, Crower 258/264 .600 .600 on 107 lobe center, Jesel shafts and a Brodix HV2008 with a QFX 4700 2 circuit 1050. Just bowl work/unshrouding on the heads.

Back in the 70's I had a 454 in a 67 Camaro. 4.56 12 bolt, TH 400.

It hauled ass!!!

Then I wrapped it around a telephone pole.

Nothing really to do with having a 427. I just wanted to share...

I know a guy that had one in a 64 Chevelle in the early 90's, I don't remember specifics, do know he had GM rectangle port heads, probably a solid flat tappet cam of some kind, etc. it went 11.1's on motor at around 4300 feet elevation. It was a very basic combo, but worked very well. RPM was eventually the demise of this engine!!
