I was putting heat in the motor at the purs race and my crew lifted the hood off so they could tech the car and the motor raised in rpms a good bit. I would think fresh air has to be better than under the hood air anytime.

Sounds like your carb is too close to the hood increasing signal to the boosters. when u lifted the hood, the air straightened out and the motor leaned out a bit. Bet theres some et in a taller hood.

on edit! Just noticed u are the opening poster, I myself have never used them, but several very well running cars are using them. But I was told by someone using one that it was so they could see the tree from the left lane. Anyway u look at it,a forward facing scoop will increase et a lil bit,but sounds like u will get a pretty decent gain yourself

I wouldn't pit anywhere else but next to you guys. Some good eating being pitted next to you. What's on the menu for Silver Dollar.

All kidding aside I am looking forward to seeing that scoop on your car, I want to see just how much you pick up. Maybe you will even get yourself on that X275 4sec list
