Jeff, I swear I'm not tying to pick on you or anything of the sort. I haven't singled you out suddenly for no apparent reason. I'm not looking for argument and I already know you'll swing back by for clarity reasons simply because you're Jeff C and that's what you do.

Octane is a rating based on scientific data and formula. Octane has nothing to do with the speed in which a fuel will burn. It has everything to do with the unlikeliness of detonating
billyman, you sure you build engines???? the higher the octane number the harder it is to burn........................... harder to light................... thats why it doesn't preignite in the cylinder, it's harder to burn/light.... BTW GO TO THE ROD THREAD AND READ IT you are wrong there also..

69cam, it was just 5 month ago you didn't know a piston from a spark plug and your coming here quoting others on fuel to run lmfao..... YOU DON'T NEED AND NEVER WILL NEED VP114 FOR YOUR 434.............THE ONLY REASON YOU WOULD NEED THAT OCTNE IS BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO TUNE SOMETHING......

Jeff gets it fine, resistance to Detonation means its harder to burn, it does not "Light off" as easy. Soda or POP its the same drink

I run 110 in my 13 to 1 418 Ford and when I tried 116 the car slowed went back to 110 and right back to where it was... to slow of a burn slows me down and I only run 32deg in her. I agree with you Jeff.

505, 14.7 actual, 38*, Sunoco supreme 112, 208 runs this year and no detonation issues, runs 5.70s in the heat. Next step up is Sunoco HCR and the motor octane is only 1 point higher for an extra $125 a drum, why spend the money if you dont have too..

Now that's funny, I've been tuning & racing engines since '87.
That's 4 years longer than you. LMAO!!! Show up with 15K & I'll do it, but for now NOT a chance in hell will I run VP-110. Also the people I mentioned said you don't know what you are talking about. For all we know you could just be some fake net guru.
I only take peoples advice on the phone or in person anyway. YB is just a place to run your mouth.
