Ok guys we have 2 weeks until the big day :supz:who's coming it should be a great day for all of us
Tom and Denny and koolrayz has worked hard to do this.
even if your car isn't done come support and.or.give guys a hand if needed
First off, thanks to all the racers, all the fans, and the people that helped make this race happen...
Let's get down to the racing highlights for the Renegade 10.50 class first:
We had 18 cars trying for the 16 spots - The TI Dyno #1 Qualifier was Mike Walker with a strong 10.507, our next 4 qualifiers were nipping at his heels all with qualifying times 10.55 or better. Skippy Stone (Skippy Did It Racecars) anchored the 16th spot with a 11.12. Each rounds competition got stronger and stronger as eliminations wore on, making it to the semi-finals were Ed Richardson, Will Carroll, Lee Leppert and Mike Walker. It came down to Lee Leppert and Mike Walker in the final round with Mike Walker claiming the victory with a 10.50 to losing 10.49 by Lee Leppert. Mike also claimed a bonus put up by Skippy Did It Racecars to the winner of this seasons first race, he unfortunately did miss out on claiming the bounty put up by ashtabularacing.com by not placing the AR decal on his car prior to the race. Goodyears "Last Man Standing" award went to Jimmy Pelcarsky for being the last car in the 10.50 class running Goodyear drive tires.
Shearer-Fab 8.90
The field consisted of 12 tightly grouped cars and when the qualifying dust settled the Chumley Motorsports #1 Qualifier was Bob Getsy in his 1964 Corvette with an 8.95. Al Matuska will be awarded the Ashtabularacing.com "Assassin" bounty placed on the #1 qualifier. Eliminations were fast and furious with several tight races being declared by thousandths of a second, the semi-finalists were Big Charlie Moore, Al Matuska, Bob Getsy, and Walt Masilunas in his ultra-sanitary '71 Camaro. In the end, it came down to Big Charlie Moore and Al Matuska battling it out for the Shearer-Fab 8.90 final. The spectacular finale was decided by just .005 of a second with the victory going to Al Matuska, Al also captured the Burt Brown Racing Transmission "Fast Reacting Challange" with the better reaction time in the final. Goodyears "Last Man Standing" award went to Paul Suloff for being the last car in the 8.90 class running Goodyear drive tires.
Street Lethal Performance Outlaw Limited Street
Even though the car count was light the action was not!!! The Street Lethal Performance OLS cars wowed the spectators with some crazy displays of raw horsepower on a small tire. The Ultratech Racecars #1 Qualifier was Don Turner in his nitrous-fed Big Chief headed big block Camaro running a 5.20. The eliminations boiled down to a pair of nitrous-fed machines (one of them was an AMC!!) versus the turbo-charged entry of Wes Blankenship. Unfortunately the final was a bye run due to mechanical issues on Blankenship's Camaro, but Don Turner put on a great show sneaking up on his tune-up with a 5.11 final round pass.
Congratulations to all our racers!!! We are looking forward to seeing EVERYONE July 3rd at Thompson Raceway Park!!!! Thanks to Jim Curtis and his staff for having us at the track!!!
We would also like to thank all of our great sponsors who help make this series go!!!

I could not make it due to my son being sick, but I heard all the details and I missed a good one it seems! Gerry.... I heard that you got double bulbed and that you turned your car off until the situation was rectified? You are the MAN! I LOVE IT!
I had a great time even though I couldnt get the car slowed down. just proud to be part of the action. see you all at the next race and congradulations to the winners.
Ya the 2 finals where Awsome Congrats to my boy walker not a bad pay day. We will fix the back fire issue and hopefully see ya July 3 rd again Congrats to all for showing up

guys with the points structure the way it is, if someone misses a race 5 points can be gained just by showing up to race . so make sure you try to attend all of them. if anyone else is interested in joining the points program? the july 3rd race will be the deadline to join.
Ok we where asked to police the class, im not being a whinner or bitching, but we are supose to be (STREET APPERING CARS) my opinion is the black 68 or 69 firebird needs to take all the decals off his car if he wants to run renegade just my 2cents
Ok thanks dennis,i know it was the first race but lets police the class, lot of people checkin out my car i have a shift niod in my car only 1 person questioned it i showed him there was no chip in it .
Just my opinion a better way to show your shift noid is disconnected would be to just pull the rod out of it....that is how I would have done it and then there is no question on if a chop could be put in easily, or has any trick wiring to it...
are we really going to start all this again? we agreed on 3,000lb or better that car gets driven on the street as much as yours gerry! its a pro-street full factory interior, A arm suspension not a strut! licsensed insured that weighs 3,000 lbs runs 9.40s with a 540 in it. get over it already! ask him to go on a 30 mile criuise with you gerry, and then race it im sure he would take you up on it! 12 cars in 8.90 and you want to throw out a pro-street like that?
like i said before - you guys came up with the rules -this is only gonna open up the door for more chassis cars -im done bitching but here are your rules you wrote
Shearer fab-8.90 & 10.50 INDEX BODY/INTERIOR 1. Full-bodied factory street type cars/trucks (domestic and import) 2. Working Headlights and Taillights mandatory, this means headlights NOT foglamps 3. NO DRAGSTERS, ROADSTERS, ALTERDS OR CENTER STEER CARS 4. Must be street appearing/no gutted interiors/carpeted interior even if rear seat is removed (The interior should look clean and professionally done) 5. Must have interior door panels 6. Racecar lettering on windows only (minor exceptions may apply) 7. Back half or stock REAR suspension permitted 8. Windows, Lexan permitted (Roll down windows optional) 9. Must have stock style front suspension 10. No full round or square tube chassis cars 11. Any size drive tires permitted
now either allow them or not but dont choose who you are gonna allow because you like or dislike them - watch as this 8.90 class gets out of hand real quick if you dont enforce the rules -- just stateing a fact done after this post

tom evaluates each car wanting to race, and he has done a great job of weeding out the all out race cars, from the home garage built pro-street style cars! everyone needs to be happy we have a place to race and have fun!
Sorry I didn't make it. Was running late yesterday then I conked my head on one of the arms of my lift while running to answer the phone. Have a nice fricken bump on my head and was seeing stars for a minute and decided to stay home.
All things considered, a great first event for the year. We must have some latitude in our rules. Many infractions I noticed (appearance wise) need corrected for the next race. Some nice new cars! That white 70 Camaro turbo car was a poster child for the class. Everyone is a tech guy, so bring up any issues with Tom.
