Default best place to get treated lumber

my car port has rotten lumber on it and im looking to replace with treated... i put up a fence a few years ago and used lowes pickets and they are all twisted.. last year i put up another one and used lowes 2x4's and had to pick threw the whole rack and they were all bowed by the time i put them up... i have got a few pieces from home depot before. it was a really light color i had to double check it was even treated but i dont have much experiance with them.

unfortunatly all treated lumber twists like crazy. best you can do is use screws for fasteners. & seal it about a month after you build with it.

The wood at Home Depot is the same way. You have to search through the whole pile and pick out the good ones. I am doing a large fence project right now and it is a pain in the ass. Their treated stuff is lighter colored.

Not to burst your bubble, but today’s pressure treated lumber splits and twists just as bad it not more then none treated lumber. The only advantage of treated lumber is it's longevity to the elements and insects.

For your application I would recommend using either UC4A,UC4B or UC4C pressure treated posts. If you use an elevated post base, you can get away using UC4A pressure treated lumber.

a dedicated lumber yard is deffenitly the way to go . but if you only have lowes or HD HD around here always has the best lumber with minimal deffects .

I built a fence last year with AC2 arsenic-free lumber from Menards. Much straighter than any lumber I checked at Lowes or HD.
