I wouldn't say it's for sale, but I know there is an offer on the table and last I was told was waiting on the bank to come up with an answer.

The guys got a real positive view point and ideas for the track. I havn't seen him in a few weeks, he comes in my store every now and then, so I'll pick his brain on it next time I see him.

If the racing is later under the lights, the spectator crowd will pay the light bill! Racing in the afternoon draws very few spectators. I know of at least 2 tracks who did this and studied the outcome. Both said the crowd was much bigger when racing under the lights.

I know a track, Kanawha Valley that opens later in the summer months to beat the heat & allow the spectators & racers that work Saturdays more time to get to the track, & it has built the car count.

I really think Norm meant to say they're making a 4'' wide cut initial across the width of track to check the depth of the asphalt. I'm glad to see that they're going to do something about the water problem.

I disagree, below is Normís statement copied from Quaker's web site.

"I met with Vasco Asphalt Company on Friday. They are to begin grinding out the track around March 19, 2012. We are taking a 4inch initial cut to determine what we have to work with. At that time, we will make the final decision as it pertains to the track surface, (that is concrete or asphalt, depth, drainage, etc).

That's all for now. Norm"

If they just wanted to know the depth AND (what they have to work with)what type of asphalt mix (AC content and type of aggregate) under the track surface all they would have to do is take core samples and have them sent to a testing lab. Norm would have his answer in a week. It would be much cheaper to take core samples than to bring a grinder to try and get that information. Besides you can grind and look at it (asphalt) all you want.... Unless you send it to a lab youíre not going to know the strength of what you have to work with.

I guess Norm is the only one that knows what he wrote. Whatever route he takes, it's progress towards a safer and drier racing surface.

I love seeing all the work Norm is doing to this track! I miss those days of the 500-car NHRA divisionals, and the 300-car weekend bracket races... That's a great facility and I can't wait to see it back to what it should be.
