Default Getting or Giving someone the hit/ break?

If you give some one the hit or the break how much (tenths) are you giving them??
Obviously if you dont react well or you are cought off gaurd it could be ALOOOOOT.
But if you react well, what is the minimum in tenths you are giving someone by letting them move first????

it all depends on how well each cars works. My 5 speed mustang would hook the same on the street as it did at the track.
I used to give cars on the street the go all the time that were roughly the same speed as mine at the track.
If I gave them the move, I was by them going into second gear.

Yeah I was more curious of at the the track. Just say you have a car that runs 5.0's... can you give a car that runs 5.30's the break and beat them if you react well?

The AVERAGE human reaction time from the time your eyes see something (the guy leave) to the time your fingers can move (release transbrake) is .16. So, if your cars hooked equally as well, youd be giving up a MINIMUM of .16.

If you're doin this with a stock suspension car, [and I've documented this and done it quite a bit] and the car and you can cut .020 to .050 lights, it's worth a minumum 4 tenths. That's if you're on the receiving end of the break. Be careful with this. If you're givin the break, and the guy's on his game, you'll have to run a half second quicker to cover him up.. Take the break any time you can get it. More times than not, you'll win...

Thats why I have wondered this..... a lot of people have told me it is a minimum of 2 tenths BUT on the other hand a pro tree r/t is .4 so theoretically you would think it would be .4 tenths or better. I was hoping someone could clear this up and help me with an explanation.

If you left PERFECT on his leave youd be .16 behind, granted your cars hooked equally, and reacted the same. Since you have no precursor to his movement, (the yellow lights on a tree) it will be very tough to leave perfect on him.

You cant really compare this to leaving on a tree. The R/T on the tree is based on how long it takes the light to go from yellow to green. You have to adjust your car and yourself to the time it takes your brain to process a visual input and deliver an output (moving finger) to get a perfect r/t on a tree.

I am kinda with Denny on this. We always figured 3 tenths minimum if we were giving the leave, but if we were receiving the leave we always got more than that and never lost. Be careful if you are giving the leave to someone that grudge races alot, cause there are some things they can do to get more than they should.

HHA.... I did that one time to some dude.. He gave me the go. and we both flashed our lights saying we were ready. I was in the right lane and I suddenly opened my door to look back. He saw me open my door and let off the transbrake. When he let off, I launched my car .. He chased me and as we all know...... A chase is a race
