Default quick fuel 1050 4150 carb does it actually flow 1050 cfm?

im looking to go to a bigger carb than my 950 on my 509" bbc and was wondering if it would be worth going to one like the 1050 4150 quick fuel carb? I would like to stay with a 4150 base carb if possible because I already have a fogger plumbed on my intake. Do the 1050 4150 quick fuel carbs actually flow that much cfm or are they like the 950s?

Likey close to that....maybe a little more.
The 1000HP style center , modified boosters & thinned throttle shafts would be right there, but, every carb varies a little.
However, your 950HP deal can be modified to real close to that also.....

I doubt it can actually flow that much. Most 4150's come in around 1008-1020 CFM.

Why not adapt it to a 4500 carb?

Use a 4500 to 4150 adapter if you have the room.

I would stay with the 4150 style, probably better signal to the venturis and boosters.

would the 1050 4150 quick fuel carb be enough for my 10.5:1 509" BBC with Dart pro 1 325 heads and 640/660 solid roller cam?

How about one of these? Over 1200 CFM when an HP body is used, this on just under 1200 CFM. www.blp.com

That's 1050 @ 1.5" of pressure drop. What it actually flows on your engine depends on the pressure under your carb, which ideally will be lower than 1.5.

Jmarkaudio,, neat looking carb. Are those boosters ovular, or is it just the pic? & can you give more details on this carb please?

Any BBC that is 500 cubes and turns above 6,000 will MPH better and E.T. better with a 4500 series carb.

I just spoke with a knowlegable carb guy at the local speed shop and he said That QF is pretty right on with CFM, but the engine combo does matter too. I have this issue(not trying to high jack the thread but...)

Ok, with my previous combo (listed below) the mixture was dead on, nice tan plugs...Always!

427 CI
3964290....69-70...oval..CLOSED..396, 402, 427, 454, 101cc chamber
520/520 lift 268/268@.050 Isky solid flat tappet
Torker intake
Holley 750 DP 69P/76S and/or
Proform 750 DP 72P/80S both with 30cc pumps F/R

3500 stall TH400
4.10

New Combo (listed below)

427 CI
3964291....69-72...rect..CLOSED..396, 402, 427, 454, 109cc chamber, Large or small hex spark plugs used, crate motor usage in years after 1970. ADded 2.25" intake valves
660/666 lift 259/260@.050 Comp Solid Roller
Victor Jr.
Holley 850 DP 85P/88S 30cc/50cc

4500 Stall TH400 w/brake
4.10

Heat range on plugs look good, heat marker in middle of electrode, but zero color and shootin ducks about 6800. I was talking to a couple of local carb guys and they are telling me to go with a 950 or a 1050 Dominator or 4150 1050 QF.

I was trying to locate some 90, 92 and 94 jets and start with the 88's up front and 90's in the rear and work up, but that does put me at the high end of jetting scale.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,
Denny
