Actually my first one was a DRE and they cut the diaper for stock mounts at no charge. I ran Lemon's 2 1/2 inch primary headers and never burnt a thing. This was no kevlar and a stock clip on my 82 Cutlass so yes it can be done. Oh and I have a Jeff Johnstons billet pan that has a passenger side kick out. So call Dennis at DRE and I'm sure he'd make you a good deal on a quantity of them.

This Rule will keep out anybody with a late model car. I.E. mustang, challenger, camaro. If your diaper was that cheap because of the motor plate dont think any of those guys that will put one in there street cars.

Have checked DRE guy is shady and if you buy 10 he will sell them to you for $350, and he told us it was extra for them to cut for side motor mounts, not all of us work at v-p, and get the good deal you do. Just talk to a lot of Racers through out the day and have a few customers that are putting racks on there novas just to fit the diaper, so you have expense of rack, plus install cost for the ones that cant do it themself, just know a lot that said forget it they will just go to muncie, only because of diaper. Most are local guys and still talk about not showing up. Maybe just the faster guys need them, not your 10.50-12.00 street cars cause thats where most of that class will come from.

86ss, I have a big block in my duster with stock steering that runs thru the center of the oil pan. The pan is just barely the thickness of the diaper away from the stock k-member. The pan also has side and rear kick-outs, and I was able to get one to fit, and I guarantee there no worse installation than mine.

Call Russell, he will have you send him a simple dimensioned drawing of what you need, and for 158.00 that includes shipping for the diaper

http://www.russlerii.com/

I know they suck to install, but man are they worth it.

I have a DRE, its the Kevlar one. He said it won't melt of anything. If it gets tore up on the fly wheel, he send send it back, he will fix it for free.

Thats customer service !

Bottom line is Heads up racers will spend a few hundred to race where they feel they have a grand or more to win when there is guaranteed money.

Ben, I honestly think most of the slower cars need diapers. Most of them leak oil because they don't have vacuum pumps on them. Hi Compression, no vacuum pump .... has to come out of the breather or a seal. Exxon Val Drew is a great example.

Just have a lot of local customers that have intrest in they it just wont go because of diaper, they are all about it till i tell them you have to have a diaper, then they are instantly, "well they wont see me there". Just my 2cent but we will just see how those classes fill up. Then you may change that rule on slower cars. Let's hope im wrong sounds like a neat deal.

Do they understand the importance of a diaper? Have they ever waited in the staging lanes because of an oil down? Or have they ever been watching at the track, and have to just sit a stare at the clean up crew for an hour. This event is on too much of a time constraint to deal with legthy oil downs and clean ups. I would think fellow racers would understand that.

I don't have a diaper, or a catch pan, but I"m going to get one or the other. Just like we all did all the other things to our cars to make them legal. All of which cost a ton more, and are much harder than a simple catch pan or diaper. I just don't get why there is always such a big deal about such a simple rule???

It's a good rule. It's one of the few that actually are. lol

Last week at the Kokomo trade show/swap meet. Dennis was selling the Non SFI diapers to the public for 169.00. That's a far cry from 350.00. So it's not a special VP deal. It's an anybody deal. If 170 bucks keeps you from coming out, sorry about that. This is a show for the fans not a tutorial on how to clean up an oil slick from a 12 second "Street" car. Read my earlier post about the 13 second chevelle that kicked the rod and oiled the entire track down and cost 2 hours of rented track time. The other racers were furious. I hope you and your customers come and support the series, but if a piece of safety equipment keeps you all away then thats your decision.

People need to get on board with having a diaper, or enjoy racing at another track. Its important and not up for debate. I cant believe how many racers bitch about wanting to make sure they were safe.... Most of us have seen the confrontations that occur in the pits that happen when one racers damages another racers car. Could you imagine what it would be like if it was easily avoidable, like by having a diaper....

Plus if you're the one putting the racks on the Novas then you should be making money and making the cars lighter and safer. It's a win win situation.

I think it should be a rule that Josh has to wear a diaper while he's racing.

For me, since I have to wear a fricken snowmobile suit to race...so all I can think about is racing or getting the fuck out of it. If I had to wait and unsuit because of a 12 second car didn't have a diaper, I would be pissed !!!! PLus all my ice would melt.....
