Default 2nd Gen Camaro brake conversion???

I have a '73 that had power brakes and now has manual. Brakes are a little iffy, doesn't stop as good as it should. I know some cars take a differant length rod between pedal and master cyl.(power vs. manual) and in some cases have to change pedal assy. Anyone know for sure if this is the case here?? It has new master cyl., rear wheel cyl's, prop. valve, etc. It should stop better than it does!! Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks....Moose.

Did you move your pedal linkage rod to the upper hole in the pedal assembly for more leverage when you changed to manual? If not, this will help greatly..........Toni

I didn't (it was actually converted when I got it). There is a bolt thru that hole with a metal contact tab for the brake light switch. I will try that and hope like hell it is that easy to improve on it!!

Hey Toni, have you done this before? The reason I ask is where the rod is attached to is a pressed in stud on the pedal arm. The upper hole is a bolt thru with a nut and I was wondering if I "bolt" it to the arm, will it still pivot freely enough? Hate to sound stupid, but I've not tried this before. Thanks for your help....Moose.

My car did not have the two holes on the pedal when I did the change. I'm not real impressed with my stopping power either on the conversion but I have been told, but not confirmed, that the mid 90's impalas have larger amount of brake surface on pads that fit on our 2nd gens.

the hole that the little tab is bolted on that goes to the stoplight switch is the one i used.

i got the set up off of ebay for a stock manual set up. the hole was higher for the manual set up which changes the fulcrum for more leverage. also the power booster is at an angle so it lines up with the lower hole, the manual bolts directly to the firewall and comes in straight and ends up higher up on the pedal. i used a 72 vette master and my brakes feel really nice.

I was going to say, that stud is just pressed in and you can pop it out and put it in the top hole. How I did mine, if I remember correctly. Mine was originally a manual brake car but it was a 3-speed and I put a automatic brake pedal in it and had to switch the stud around.
