Corvettes are cool, I have raced three of them in the past 4 years, Hard to see out of but they make great race cars.

So how much does everyones corvette weigh? And what year is it, and what was done to reduce weight? I have a 73 that has a moly back half. We were tracking the weight we took out but lost track of everything. The IRS alone was nearly 400 with brakes The new solid axle is just under 150 with brakes. I'm hoping to get my race weight under 3000. And its gonna be close I think, so far we did the following to reduce weight...

Moly back half
Aluminum wheels, the rears are the same as the steel due to large tires, front is much lighter
Aerospace brakes, all 4 corner
Light weight Kirkey seats, stock ones were over 40 each
Light hood, 17# vs 40 plus pounds
Rack and pinion steering vs. stock set up
Manual brakes vs. power booster
Aluminum radiator 12 vs. 30 plus pounds
And many other things, hope I make the weight to run a little quicker...

it was done for better handling and to get the weight to 49%front and 51% rear.

I never ever tried to pattern my car around it or anything though, just been doing my own thing. Cool you mention my car & that one together though! .
Amazing you would say that Flyin because you would have loved to look at it up close. Of course, I think you might have been too busy kicking some Comp Elim butt at the time.

The car was owned by Nick Gaglione (RIP) and driven by his son Nicky Jr. It was built by Larry Wolyniec at Competition Motorsports in Bridgeview, IL and was way trick for it's day. Larry built Spiro's original car, Ted Pelech's first version of his current Camaro, and a bunch of other "Super Street" hitters back then. I got to know Larry thanks to this car at Orlando back in '96(?). They won Orlando that year going 8.20s beating Steve Kirk (in a red vette) in the final. I believe Nicky won Memphis in 97 as well.

The car had a 389 cid SB2 with a single plate and it was pretty well known that they never leaned on it too hard. They were getting ready to build a Procharger engine for it when Nicky sold it but I'm not sure to who.

The reason I think it is so much like yours is the SB2. If the Lil Chief was out back then, I'm pretty sure Nicky would have gone that route.

^^^^correction. Nick's vette had 2 plates arranged in a cross configuration. They were using a modified delay box to turn the stages on and off.
