Default 2000 Dodge Durango Heater blowing warm air, will not get hot??

Is this a heater core issue? Coolant is fine.....

If its the heater core...is it a big job to replace? Waterpump is new as of this year.

This Vehicle is killing me....

Thanks

Is the temp guage reading normal? If so, sounds more like a blend door not closing off the cold air.

Normally when the T-Stat sticks open and normal engine temp is not achieved, the CEL will come on with either of these two codes.

P0125-CLOSED LOOP TEMP NOT REACHED
P1281-ENGINE IS COLD TOO LONG

Locate both heater hose lines, with engine up to temp, are boht lines relatively the same temp? If not back flush heater core. If engine temp is correct and heater core is not plugged, check actuator for blend door, IIRC drop down the glove box door and should be able to get to it, move temp selector through full sweep and see if actuator moves. If not check switch with DVOM and see if it is working correctly. Remove blend door actuator and see if with it still hooked up it will move, if not actuator is bad, if so either blend door is broken, or warped causing it to stick.

Could be as simple as air in the system, if it was a bad core it would be leaking either inside or outside the vehicle, try to take off the lower hose at one side just for an instant and then reconnect, that will usually "burp" the system, and then make sure it is all the way full when you are done, not just the tank but the rad itself.
