Default LS in a fox body

Im thinking of using a LS motor for my 92 5.0. Is there alot of cons to these combinations? How much can I spray with those motors? Any suggestions on where to get a set-up?

aluminum or iron block?

im setting up a fox soon for one of these engines-we have an iron block lq9 truck engine for the car--ordering an aje crossmember for this car

the aluminum block is just that-softer aluminum -ive seen a few on the street locally that have sprayed right through the casting with over 200 hp shots--maybe bad tunes? who knows-i didnt work on em or build em

but in the end these guys have switched to iron blocks so im assuming they either need the beefier block so theyre bad tunes can melt the pistons instead-or the aluminum block is just that weak..

How much are you wanting to spray? 150-175? Ls1 with arp2000 rod bolts

200-250? - Iron 6.0L block with a set of pistons. L92 heads and Ls3/L76 intake

250+ - Iron 6.0L or LSX block w/ forged bottom end etc

Your 92 should go mid 11's with a cam only Ls1 or 6.0L iron setup and 10's on a 150 easily.

Can't answer the spray questions, but I have one of these for a street car. We used the AJE k-member and Kooks headers for this application and they both worked great. We used an F-body oil pan and fabbed a cross member. I like the AJE stuff because the same k-member can accept a SBF if you buy a different pair of motor mount stands. I bought both sets just in case I want to go back to the SBF.

The swap itself is very easy nowadays. I've had a few customers do the swap already using the AJE K member and Tranny crossmember. As Fryguy said the AJE stuff is nice because of the interchangable motor mounts. Headers are becoming easier to come across nowadays too.

let me know if you do this, i'll want to see the car at the track!

and there are guys who have sprayed up to a 200 on a stock bottom end, but you have to be on top of the tuneup. 150-175 shouldn't be too much of a stretch though. going to be going carbed or fuel injected?

let me know if you need any help putting it all together, not sure where you're at in iowa

Hell, they sell the K-member and headers in Jegs now. I say its a great swap. A killer engine in a killer chassis, what can be bad about that?

I sprayed a stock bottom end LS1 with a 200 shot for years, when the motor finally went I had been running it NA for about a year. Right now I have an aluminum blocked LS1 that's in my 99z that makes an extra 300 RWHP on the kit (fogger), and no block issues. Biggest issue with LS1's is if you are using a single nozzle, or a plate, the #7 cylinder likes to go lean, and you end up with busted ring lands. We setup my fogger on the dyno, using EGT's from each cylinder, so my jetting is not just based on NX's recommended jetting. So not all of my cylinders have the same jet setup. Right now it's making about 795 RWHP on the kit, we are preparing to re-jet for another 100 rwhp, so we'll see what she can handle. This motor is being pulled to go in my Fox Project in my signature.

Do the L92 heads use the same exhaust manifolds as all LS heads? And Im going to use a motorplate from Racecraft inc with a glide. Should be a nice change. Who makes a good stroker kit for 6.0 iron blocks?
