Default The Stock Eliminator thread

I have loved Stock for quite some time, and there isn't much talk about it here on YB, so all Stock racers please chime in! Thanks!

Couldn't agree more!! Stock is possibly the oldest class in NHRA competition. I'm more partial to Stock than S/S, but both great classes. It blows my mind how damn quick people are going with small displacment, stock headed engines. I'll never forget watching a 55 Chevy go 11.50's with a 265, and manual 3-speed, at our local Division 6 race in Acton, MT. I think that car set a national record that day. My favorited thing about stock, it's the original stock suspension, small tire class!!!

Stock Eliminator is my favorite class in all forms of drag racing.
Yes, 98 % of the time it is glorified bracket racing, but the cars look cool without goofy hoodscoops, wings and crap like that on them.

We are building a 95 Mustang GT for IHRA Pure Stock for next year. I found out about the local Stock/Super Stock combo races around here and watched one this year.
The manual trans cars are awesome to watch ! High RPM gear bangin' . Cool.
I can't afford to bang gears, so ours will be slushbox.
