My 15 year old is hinting he wants to drive mine in a few months. Don't know about that. It runs 10.60 on the motor nice and straight, 8.50 cage and all the safety stuff it needs. This video make me think a little more about it.

Great video. Good job dad

has he driven anything close to a 10 sec car? I went from a high 12 sec street car to my dads 9 sec (old motor) bracket car, the exact same way he was running it at about 18 and man the difference was night and day, well my 1st pass was at like 11 pm so i guess the difference was just night lol. I would let him in it, and let the kid make some 1/8th mile passes. Even though its only the 1/8th, I can guarantee that kids face will light up like a candle lol

He made some passes in a jr dragster and hell on wheels with the four wheeler. He been pretty timid with my truck while learning. We have a '02 TA six speed car figured it would be safer and easier to just get into the Camaro instead of the TA.

My son was 27 years old when we got our first "real" race car. He Had 3 passes before he went a full launch. First was a foot-brake launch. Then idle down track. Next was a foot-brake launch to half track. Next was a transbrake launch to half track. Then he ran a full pass. The fastest car he had driven before was about a 8 or 9 sec 1/8 mile street car. There is a world of difference in a low 6 sec car. I think he ran 80 something before and this ran 106 or 107.The car usually runs 6.40's to 6.50's but he has ran as low as 6.27. He has yet to run 1/4th mile though. It has run 9.94 @133 with another driver though.

I wanted him to know exactly what the car felt like before letting him loose with it. I would not have a qualm about putting a big motor in it now. I believe he could handle it fine. He has had a wonderful year with a r/u, a semi, and 3 or 4 quarters. Made a lot more runs this year than we did last year. Almost three times as many. Even won some money.

I was not going to just let him in a car and not know what he was doing. If he got hurt I would never forgive myself.
