Default Innovate SSI-4 Speedometer wiring

Im normally a electrical wiz, but i cant for the life of me figure out if a 3 wire or 2 wire is the correct unit to use, and if its gonna read to 200 mph with at 3.27 and a 26" tall tire with a 8 pules per revolution sender. anyone do this before, I cant get tech at innovate to pick up and i was on hold for 10+ min

Do you already have a sender? What type is it?

I'd use the three-wire. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CYB-8901/

Have you read this?
http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/s...SI4_manual.pdf

If you don’t exceed the frequency range listed in Ch. 5 it will work. That will depend on the gear ratio between the tails haft and the sender. Do the math.

Quoted from manual:

The SSI-4 can be set to any frequency range between 0 and 30 Hz for the full
0..5V range to 0..15 kHz for the full 0..5V output (logging) range.

so which is it 30 hz or 15khz?

and how do you do the math?

Drive shaft speed (engine RPM in high gear) X the gear ratio of the speedometer drive on the trans tail shaft X 8 (pulses per revolution of the sensor) = frequency per minute. Divide that by 60 = pulses per second. I don't know the spedo gear ratio in the tranny, ask a tranny guy or google it.

There are instructions about this in LogWorks.

so remembering the gears i have from when i fixed my trans its a 2.5:1 ratio. So from what i get 7500 rpm x 2.5 ratio x 8 ppr = 150,000 which is right at the 15kHz the ssi-4 can see correct?

http://www.tciauto.com/Products/Tech..._gears.asp#400

Here’s a page with trans and speedo gear information.

You divide the tail shaft tooth count by the speedo cable gear tooth count to get the ratio of drive shaft to sender RPM. Example…..18 on main shaft / 45 on cable gear = .4 (same as 1 divided by 2.5 = .4 …. The answer found dividing 1 by a number is called ‘the reciprocal’ of that number. )

So, 7500 x .4 x 8 / 60 = ?

You didn’t think a speedometer cable spins 18,750 RPM, did you?

The Innovate uses 3-wire sensors for the drive shaft.

If your sensor is looking a a collar on the driveshaft:
7500 engine RPM > 1:1 top gear = 7500 Drive Shaft RPM X 8 magnets = 60,000 pulses per minute = 1,000 pulse per second =1,000 Hz = 1 kHz

Appears to be well within the acceptable range if the system is capable of 15kHz.

He may use this sender on the trans speedo cable drive.

Yeti, got another one for you... I wired it up and have verified all my connections. Programed the ssi4 and logworks but won't give a mph reading. If I set it to frequency I can see the sender working and giving me a frequency reading, but not if it's set to mph.

Got any ideas innovate is closed for sema.
