Default What's worse?

Ignorant gun owners and those interpreting what their rights are, or more gun laws?

For some strange reason I think they go hand in hand. The gun laws are for the ignorant.

Discuss.

They are both equally bad and never result in anything good.

Actually O.C., all laws are for ignorant people. How about just one law, if you act stupid or do stupid things you will be charged accordingly!

libertarians have a brief description of the proper functions of a governing body; it's there to protect itscitizens against the use of force or fraud against them. When you think of how much that simple sentence covers, it seems like it should not be so complicated. Everyone has agendas though.

This is kind of a chicken and egg thing.

If not for the stupid (not to mention criminal) gun owners, would there even be a reason for gun laws?

LOL funny you ask this. When people hand me there CCW permit, I just ask "do you have the weapon with you?" (which is a yes or no answer) they always tell me, it's right here in the console, my glovebox,, on my waist, I ask "is that a yes?" and they always giggle after that. In other words I could care less where you got it, just do you have it.

Sounds like you're being unnecessarily condescending to me. A yes is implied if they're telling you where it is. They're just doing the decent thing and telling you exactly where it is to set your nerves at ease.

Mr. White, would you not think this is the same premise as so many laws written to interpret original intent of the Constitution? Personally, I think that many laws are written to prevent the ignorant from harming themselves. Unfortunately, they also have the effect of preventing others from thinking for themselves, creating more issues in a society that needs increasing number of laws to baby-sit stupidity. Eventually, it will become a chicken road-crossing, and all because seat belt laws saved too many lives thereby eliminating natural selection for intelligence in the gene pool.

I think the gun owners out there who "overdo it" do far more harm than the quiet, law-abiding ones. I think (hope) you guys know what I mean. Obviously we all like guns in here, but there's no reason for those extreme gun lovers to get so ridiculous about it. Rubs the rest of the world the wrong way and makes a bad impression...

I know what you mean, like the people who open carry when they can legally concealed carry just to get a reaction and to "push the envelope." Personally I see no real purpose to open carry when you can concealed carry unless your in a position where you need quick access to the firearm like in a store situation where you are at higher risk. The tactical advantage goes to the concealed firearm in most situations.

But yes Gun laws are for the ignorant more or less, and for the govt. They like to "regulate" anything & everything. In a perfect world like Beltfed said, we could just hold people accountable and responsible for their actions and call it a day. But we don't. Common sense is not common enough, even among judges and jurors for that to work in this day and age.
