unless your building a heavy tank theres no reason you cant run 9s with a decent 23* sbc on pumpgas. Go with better heads and light wt. and some high 8s could happen, as it takes about 750hp @ 2800lbs to run 150mph, and theres a few here that have built pumpgas SBs that make that much or more.

yenko, not sure if you want a 23* setup or step up to a little better head design but i have done both and run very well. the old nova i had was street driven full interior stock suspension with many many pumpgas engines, it was my test bed for engine combo's..you can run 9's with a 18* setup. 23* takes a lot more effort to push a normal 3500# street car into the 9's on pump gas.. with a little power adder you can make the maro fly.. i would do a large cid 420-434 pumpgas with airwolf's, rr allpro's, 220 allpro's, 235afr,245 afr, or step up to a set of rfd 18*, bmf 18*. caltrac, th400, 3.73 gear and your should be good to go.. i can run 8.40s with a very highly modifed 430+cid and a fogger running a 230 dart head that has way to much work, time and money into them but there 11 yrs old and do the job..the intake i used is a ported gm bowtie it had a ported super vic and ran the same numbers as the bowtie..4500 carb btw cool ride is it real??

My buddy's combo: 72' Nova, 355, GM crank & rods, speed pro forged pistons 11.5:1, Comp solid flat 250ish @ .050, not sure on lift, 215 Iron Eagles (old heads), Dart single plane, 750 Demon, MSD 6AL, 175 shot, with this set up it ran 11.4's with a cold bottle, and horrible conditions, really bad DA. I just sold him a set of AFR 210 Eliminators, he says the car is night and day now. Hoping to get the car to the track again some time next year with warm bottle, and better conditions, should go 10's pretty easy, even up here in this shitty DA. Car has full interior, 12 bolt with 3.73's, slappers, and 26x8.5 slick. When the weather is good, this car gets driven almost daily, for him to go to work and back is probably 40 some miles round trip. He has raced more than one ladder bar / big tire car, and beat all of them on the street. Hope this is a good example of what you are after Yenkomike....

Alittle stout for a pump gas street car. Cam in the 250's @.050 is more in line with a pump gas build but, port work to the heads, intake and a "Good" custom grind cam should get you there

No doubt bud, it is the one that I posted the spin tron data from a while back. I will definately keep you in the loop. The only thing that matters to me is that it goes quicker than my last combo did.

When I say street car, I do intend on doing Drag Week with it. And driving it whenever the sun is shining.
