Ive been looking at them too. they seem to be a good head. Andy Jenson runs them on his Pro Mod with a single 115 I beleive. I just cant get over the price tag. Add a few options and put valves and spring in them and your looking at 12k.

Been thinking about these heads for a long time. Got scared and went for the safe 23 deg option and a pair of AFR 235's.

I still think a pair of SBX's will enable 1500hp up to 2000hp with minimal boost. All depending on compression, pump gas race gas or meth.......

For me the big question is? Can you run these with a small cam say 0.650" - 0.700", a cast single intake manifold, have some street manners and still make good power. Or will you have to run a larger Cam in the 0.900" + lift region, a dual carb sheet metal intake and resign yourself to a strip only monster........

There is plenty of good reading in the N/A section on SBX, Little cheifs and SB2.2s. I think the up shot is that the newest SBXs have ironed out all the issues that the others and had and are available in specific versions for N/A, boosted and Nitrous applications. Plus Jesel make an SBX specific valve train for them and Comp Cams make a specific cam!!!

The SBX is a nice improvement over the sb2.2. The SBX and Little cheif have spread exhaust ports to get rid of the issue with the center exhaust valves being side by side. As you get over 1700hp or so, the center exhaust valves can cause you head gasket issues if everything isn't perfect.

The SBX can be used with a cast intake. You can use the Mopar nascar intake and fit it to the SBX.
