On a good note, ground was broken for a new drag strip in Missouri, Cannonball Raceway in Eolia, MO. off Hwy.61 about 30 miles norh of I-70. racing should start next year.
I would like to hear more info on this new track also. I live close to there and have not heard anything about it.

I'm wondering if this is the facility I read about last year that Carl Edwards, his dad, and a couple investors were going to build? I had read it's supposed to have a drag strip, roundy round track, sand drag track, horse show arena and some businesses on site

I heard this is going to be Gm testing facility only. I don't know for sure though. You hear all kind's of things !! I also heard a new drag strip was going to be built by Kentucky Motor Speedway that is supposed to be like Z Max dragway.

I heard from a pretty reliable source this weekend in St. Louis that the shiek had bought ADRL and plans to buy Gateway. We'll see !!

I posted this on a local site a couple weeks ago regarding the land Gateway is built on.

Quote:
Just a little information for everyone concerning Gateway's property situation.

There are 6 major parcels that make up the roughly 147 acre facility.

02070200016 - FRANKE, RUTH - 22 CARDIGAN DR FERGUSON, MO 63135 - 32044.00
02060400005 - FRANKE, RUTH - 22 CARDIGAN DR FERGUSON, MO 63135 - 20219443.00

These two make up a bulk of the facility from Ohio Street (the road by the truck stop across 203).

02060200013 - TROVER, JEANETTE - 3000 PACIFIC AV LONG BEACH, CA 90806 - 3460.00
02060200019 - BERGFIELD, DAVID - 236 BROADWAY HAMEL, IL 62046 - 15455.00
02060200036 - GATEWAY INTER MOTORSPORT CORP, %DOVER MOTORSPORTS INC - ATTN: JOHN G MARGETICH 1131 N DUPONT HWY DOVER, DE 19901 - 6937.00
02060300003 - GATEWAY INTER MOTORSPORT CORP, %DOVER MOTORSPORTS INC - ATTN: JOHN G MARGETICH 1131 N DUPONT HWY DOVER, DE 19901 - 8261.00

These four parcels make up the northern 1/3 of the facility. It's actually 5 lots though because one of Dover's parcels cuts David Bergfield's parcel in half. No idea who Mr. Bergfield is (other than a man in his late 70s from Hamel, IL), but given the Long Beach address, I'd imagine Jeanette Trover is somehow tied to Chris Pook's involvement w/ the track in the 90s.

So knowing all this, we end up having this disaster...

Just for fun, this is how everything looks using the old aerials of the track...

This beachball of a property situation is really going to raise eyebrows w/ any potential buyer. :hide:
and how Memphis compares...
Quote:
By comparison...Memphis is two parcels, both owned by Dover. One is 240 acres (oval track and north half of road course) and the other is 102 acres (drag strip).
http://gis.register.shelby.tn.us/ind...sfolder&b=info
One other major stepping stone is that the land west of the track was originally awarded to Gateway/Dover in an auction in 2000. The plan was to convert it into on-site parking which would've solved two of the track's major problems. Anyone who's been there for a big event (like ADRL last weekend), knows the two worst things about the track is the parking and the access. We can thank the corrupt politicians from the city of East St. Louis and some environmentalists for putting the brakes on that.

This is further complicated as the elevated approach ramp for the new Mississippi River bridge is slated to be built just west of the triangular parcel in dispute.

Cannonball Raceways contruction signs should be put up this week or next. They have been printed up and need to be mounted to the signboard then installed on site. The owners bought the electronics and outbuildings from MAR when it closed. The strip will be single pour post tension concrete.
