Pick one. Not one of them, including mine will keep you from breaking the block.

They will keep you from driving over the parts, however.

Ain't that the truth, thanks Mark for being honest!

I had a probe main girdle on my last stroked 427ci setup in a stock 84 block. Motor ran strong with only n/a passes and 6400 rpm shifts for the most part. 28 oz balance. Pulled after about 1.5 yrs racing and found cracks in the center 3 mains. Luckily I had pulled the motor to sell it and found the problem before delivering to the buyer.

I had a coast high girdle on my 347 ci stroker and wasn't so lucky with it. The first time I cracked the block, I heard a problem and got a new block before having catastrophic damage. 1 year later, the same thing happened, but this time I didn't catch it in time and broke the crank and tore up the front of the block, bent all the intake valves, etc...That block was cracked almost 1/8" at the front which gradually closed up towards the rear.

It belonged to a friend of mine. Actually he was lucky it didn't have a girdle, it probably saved the heads on it because everything went out the bottom. It was his first weekend with the car and the guy he bought it from told him it had better parts in it than it did. The engine had a good set of Victor heads and a stout roller cam so it would rev, she blew at about 8,000 in the lights ( 1/8th mile) luckily he kept the car off the guard rail. He was pissed but it could have been worse and the heads were just fine.

As stated, girdles do nothing except help contain parts when the block fails.

Every motor of yours I've seen made too much power for a stock block.

My friend called me and told me about it when he sent the picture two days later I laughed for about an hour. Then sent it to a few other friends, Danny Crower simply replied:" We have a winner, best I've seen in over 25 yrs. "

Other than a few I've seen with split blocks this is at the top of the heap.
