Default biggest size cam on a stock H.O 302

Ok so I see alot of people including me are looking to see what the biggest cam you can run on a stock 302 with valve reliefs stock heads ext. I'm not interested in hearing that there are no gains or just use 1.7 rockers and springs cuz I know that already....I just want to see whats the biggest cams (include lift and duration specs) some of you guys have ran without piston to valve clearance issues. The cam I'm interested in is either a stage 1 TFS cam or a B 303, who's got em on stock 302's with no p2v problems? Thanks

From what I have done, in hydraulic roller form, is up to .520" lift and duration @ .050" I keep below 240*. Hope this helps.

I ran a x cam in one of my old junkers. 542 lift stock pistons and heads. Ran like shit but sounded ok.

How did it run with the F cam on stock heads? I'm guessing you had to tune it to run efficiently?

you are limiting yourself in camshaft design because it is so easy to just add some relief to the pistons.

valves hit the piston at between 10 degrees btdc and after tdc.
max lift has not much to do with when the valves will hit the piston.... oly factor is the comparative low lift duration.

adding extra lift or duration does not add much power unless the cylinder heads port flow is capable of flowing more air.
you never said which of the various stock heads.

i have the e303 in mine now (.49 runs good sounds good, i know you can run the f303 (.512) but its cutting it close on stock reliefs a buddy of mine ran the f303 in a stock motor and had no problems, another guy i know had a valve whack a piston, both 87-93 mustang with ho motors, so its somwhere in that area

a few hours to detail the shape of the original eyebrows in each piston is all that it takes to make it fit.

it is NOT the overall lift that causes the valves to hit the pistons.

it is the actual opening and closing duration at about .100 " lift at the valve as=nd how it compares to the actual TDC point is what will tell you if it will or not clear.

you have sighted the "E" and the "F" cams,

the exhaust lobe / valve event on the closing side is what will determine how much piston to valve clearance you will have.
the intalke valve will normally clear by plenty.

once again,
WHAT HEAD IS A "STOCK " HEAD...????

every year the heads were different.
the issue is that the valve seats were all at different depths as measured from the head gasket / deck surface.
and some years the pistons came with different locations and depths of valve relief eyebrows.

the motor was a 92 ho motor with trw forged pistions ported e 7 heasds left the valves alone long tubes and 4.10 gear 150 shot ran pretty good fo what it was.
