Default brodix-12 heads with down nozzles

whats your opinions on running the down nozzles with a mechanical fuel injection and alcohol on sbc 406. brodix-12
im thinking the fuel wouldnt be taking up space in the runner and or puddling on the bottom of the manifold. so i would assume you would have better air flow at least up to the point of the injector nozzle.

Got any pictures of those heads? Always curious just where those nozzles go. Doesn't seem to be a lot of room in there. Are they actually under the valve covers?

Ya, right above the exhaust ports. They go through to the intake bowl, about 2'oclock on the long side as it makes it's way into bowl.(kinda hard to explain or I may not of done a job of it...)
Thats what they were made for, but have seen them run fairly well with a carb aswell. I have a set, WT268's but run them with a carb and gas. Just plug the holes, this is a NOS application.
Not to bad of a deal, alot of port volume and work OK with the nos.IMO Their used to be a guy that ran a Yellow Malibu in the early 90's(True street maybe) that ran them with a NOS set-up, he did pretty good with them.

I'd love to see a picture of an engine plumbed with down nozzles. Just how close are they to the exhaust? What is the advantage? I think my heads were available with the down nozzle stuff though I didn't order them with it.

Yes, you can run them without the nozzles, just plug them or weld them up from inside the port. Not a big deal. The point of them was a straighter shot at the valve into the cylinder, and the fact that as everyone knows, the second you allow a liquid, or fuel into the runner of an intake manifold and cylinder head, flow goes down. Everything will "flow" better dry. By using the nozzles on the outside of the head on the exhaust side with the nozzle facing the valve in the bowl that sprays right into the cylinder, helps keep fuel out of the runners which flows more air, as well as not haveing an injector protrude into the runner and on paper should make more power.

we tried the down nozzles in our -12 heads. Compared to our up nozzle setup the were almost a tenth slower in the 1/4. I've done some more research since then and would like to try it again but with a different length nozzle and possibly a different flow nozzle.

I think it is a little bit of a hit and miss thing... I know of another person that tried them in his GB2300 headed engine and his slowed down also. But, I do know of a person that switched to them on his AllPro headed smallblock and seen .04 in the 1/8th.

If the down nozzles mess up the wet flow of the head you will see a loss in performance.

We plugged our down nozzles holes from the outside with set screws of the correct thread.

Down nozzles work good in circle type racing where you are in and out of the throttle. For wide open drag racing....not so good. Fuel automization is a problem for drag racing.

Blessings.........Ron.

Under statment of the century and if people think that port stays dry just because there is a nozzle in the bowl well .

True, I know that World of Outlaw sprint cars use down nozzles. I think maybe because of fuel lag off of the barrell valve when on and off the pedal? Either way, WoO sprints haul ass!!
