Default GM techs help 5.3 4.8 engine swap

can a 5.3 fit with out any probs where a 4.8 was in a 2000 1500 pick up..got a cust...who has a blown engine and the only local thing i can find is 5.3 ..thanks for any help or if anybody done this..just wondering if the intakes will interchange and such

all interchangeable

get a Z06 cam for the 5.3 before installing it

we have done some 4.8 to 5.3. 5.7, 6.0 swaps

I dont have the soft ware to reprogram ..if thats the case i will look for a 4.8

"if needed" it may not need it .fuel curve should be close

It will, the fuel and timing tables are slightly different due to the larger exhaust duration of the ZO6 cam. You would also have to address the Rev. Limit to take advantage of the camshaft and you need to swap valve springs. Done a few ZO6 cam swaps.

motor swap will run fine, been there done that. Programming will optimize it a little, but it will work. It will drop right in and plug right in. Blocks are stamped 4.8/5.3. Poke it .120 and put 5.7 guts in it! Idle will need relearn after swap and crank learn, but otherwise no biggie (because of MAF)
