He is a tool maker, they are about 80$ each plus you need a mandrel. So like 200 for 1intake,1 exhaust,1 mandrel.Call him and tell him your valve sizes and he will make 1 for each. They fit in in place of the valves, all you do is remove all the valves from one head.

Good question!

Why would a rocker change require cutting the valve reliefs?

What I'm getting is he's moving up in ratio. If he's border line on clearance and went from, say a 1.5 to 1.6. With .600 lift at 1.5 (.400 lobe lift), he would now have .640. I know the engine I'm putting back together for my car will clear with a 1.8. but I gotta cut for the 1.9's and 1.95's.

If your rocker ratio increases max lift .060 that doesn't mean you will need .060 more cut out of the valve relief.

wedgie,i understand you pain about taking it out, but you need to ck actually how much v/p clearance you have instead of just cutting extra(guessing). the higher ratio rocker will actually open the valve quicker cause of the ratio.
disassembly of shortblock is best but you need to be very careful when cutting it in the block to keep shaving out. it can be done.....but go back and ck v/p clearance and then cut accordingly....it is time well spent....just my .02

Ratio will increase max lift .065 When the valve is at max lift on the intake for example the piston will be 108* past tdc if the cam is installed at 108* icl. The valve will be no where near the piston at max lift because at that point the piston will be inches down in the cylinder. The valves are close to the piston when the piston is near tdc and valve lifts at and near tdc will not increase by .065 Not saying they will not need to be cut just not .065. You should mock it up and check it to be sure. Removing more than needed will lower compression.
