Hey guys,
i know you all sick of this shit about mufflers but im gonna ask anyways lol I know there always threads involving which are the quietest mufflers, but im gonna ask something slightly different... I have a set of ultra flows (3inch rounds) and i like a half decent loud car (cant stand flowmasters)...I know that ultraflows sound great, but id like just a tad louder, and the xr-1's seem to be the ticket from what im hearing...i was wondering if anybody could post clips of there cars with either mufflers so i could get an idea of how each one sounds...correct me if im wrong, but borlas are louder than ultraflows and deeper as well? are there any other mufflers comparable that im leaving out here that i should try? no bullets or vibrants for me guys, because its too loud for what im doing with the car also does the case shape affect sound at all? i figure round muffs are louder than box case interested to hear all opinions (and soundclips too!) Thanks! Matthew

I had dual XR1 Borlas, 3", and they were not loud, my favorite older man exhaust.
I had Magnaflow duals 3", and they were too loud for me.

What is your idea of loud Matt? I had single chamber race flowmasters coming out in front of the rear tires, on my old car, and it sounded great! Never got hassled by the man in 7 years of street driving.

I had a pair of 5" XR1s. They were so loud that a buddy of mine could hear me start up the blower motor from a mile away as the crow flies, and between he and I was a local highway.

Hey guys, my idea of loud is something just as loud if maybe a tad quieter than single chamber flowmasters....I cannot stress enough that BULLETS AND VIBRANTS are out of the picture...this is a 95% street driven car, I am 20, and i dont want to live in the right lane in park waiting for the boys in blue to ask for my license
From what i have heard, the xr-1's are loud mufflers, but then some guys say they are quiet? quieter than magnaflows, but im not sure how that can be since ive always felt magnaflows are pretty quiet...I know everybody has a differnt conception of whats loud, but maybe the race car guys used to bullets find xr-1's quiet...at the very least, does anybody know for sure if xr-1's are louder than ultra flows?

I had short dual exhaust on the white 2000 Z/28. 3" dual dynomax bullets.
Went to Magnaflow 3" in/out, we called them the 4x9's... I think they are 9 inches long. They were very slightly quieter than the bullets which surprised me based on what folks said on the web. I've heard dual 1 chamber flows, they are hella loud. XR1's for me were quieter than the bullets and the Magnaflows I mentioned.
