Default Impact Racing....

Any feedback on their stuff? I need to buy all the safety equipment for my new set-up....jacket, pants, helmet, gloves, etc. Call me weird, but I like keeping everything the same manufacturer/brand, and right now I'm leaning toward Impact Racing. So, anyone else using their stuff? How do you like it?

Personally, I wouldn't use any of it. They had some big recalls about a year back and a few months later the SFI pulled thier certifications off of several of Impacts' products. - The thought that some racers may have been running while not properly protected steers me away from using them.

The recall was strictly 15 suits, which I have not heard of anyone having return issues. While I don't like their camock belts, I love the 5 suit, boots to gloves. Extremely light and comfortable, mine even has the arm restraints built into the jacket. Don't know about the helmet, although I would not have an issue running one.

Thanks for the input. I e-mailed Impact Racing asking about this recall and their product...this is what I got back from their sales manager...

"Hello Ken

I assure you we do not have any problems with our product. Some of those issues were blown way out of proportion. Like for instance SFI was fussing over the embroidery thread we used and their very own SFI tag that they send us to use burns so fast that you would not believe. Any way we stand behind our product 100% the papers never told the story that we replaced all the suits in ? and paid for our customers shipping both ways and provided loaner suits until theirs were in their hands."

He also offered me a discount if I bought a head to toe deal. Seems like a pretty cool guy.

I'll think about it man. Shoot me pics if you get a chance. I'm in Afghanistan, so calling you would be tough. But maybe we can work something out. I'm gonna see what kind of deal Impact is talking about giving me and we'll go from there.

Good luck on the helmet if you have a big noggin. Even then, I wouldn't buy one from them due to the risk of not getting the right size.

that's good; The articles and press have deffinitely not made them look too good.

I currently wear their 3.2A/5 jacket, gloves, and shoes, but simpson pants. - work with what ya got.

Their cam lock belts are hard to get loose, I sent mine in last year for the trade in deal they have and waited over 3 months to get new set.

Impact had a recall on their /15 and higher suits due to the fact they were not providng the protection they were designed for and failing SFI testing, There was a big story on these and the NHRA deemed them unfit for use in competetion due to the shadyness that went down with their higher level suits.

I do however have an Impact Champ helmet, love it.
